Gravity Delivery Discussion

SA gave me a call yesterday, and asked if I had seen the recent communication emails about the change in Gravity configurations.

She then proceeded to ask me if I wanted the HUDless Gravity or would like to wait till Fall. I told her to add my to the HUD wait-list.

Added VIN for whoever was decoding stuff before.

Thanks, and congrats! All US 2026 Gravity Dream Edition should have VIN of the form 7UUG1DJKxTA0#####, where "x" is the check digit and "#####" in the sequence number, although it's been claimed elsewhere that Lucid VINs are not sequential. I understand not wanting to share the exact VIN, but would you say if it is a 3 digit value? (It would be very cool if they matched the sill plate, but that would be a logistical nightmare during assembly I suspect.)

I’ve only seen three VINs but can already guarantee they are not sequential. Please let’s not play the VIN game again lol

And they do not match the door sill plates.

They are random. :)

I placed an order on Friday.
Today got a call from a sales specialist.
He said HUD will be available in the Fall, FWIW.
He didn't know I'm a GT owner.
Probably didn't look up my profile.

GTs were a refundable deposit, DEs were non-refundable. It was like that from the beginning to my knowledge, but I'm definitely aware some people jumped in before fully reading that in the DE fine print.
Yes, I could have sworn It said refundable because they were trying to get people with an Air to book a DE.

I never booked a GT and then Upgraded to DE. Mine was a straight up DE booking.

Anywho they put me into a GT so I have time to think about it later down the road AND save 25$ a week to make up for a potential 1K loss. No Casino for me for a month 🤪

Did you order a DE, if not it won’t matter if you own an Air GT. Only the DE’s are getting HUD for now.

Received the following email from my SA yesterday afternoon:

“Hi Bryan,

Just left you a voicemail. Thank you for your patience and support.

I’m excited to share that your Lucid Gravity Dream Edition has officially entered production! Your vehicle’s VIN is 7UUG1DKJ2TA00xxxx. This is a major milestone, and we’ll continue to keep you updated as it progresses through the remaining stages.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions in the meantime—I’m here to help.”

Am somewhat isolated on the Atlantic right now steaming toward New York which is, I guess, why I didn’t receive his call. When I arrive NYC Monday, I’m going to see if I can wrangle a test drive there, or at the very least, actually see and sit in the car.

Exciting to think my Model X’s days are well and truly numbered now! 🥳

Did our try-to-justify-our-planned-$150K-purchase test drive today, and I have to say that I loved it (and I *hate* driving bulky SUVs typically/much prefer fast sedans). Didn't mind the squircle; loved the high regen/swift combo setting (much better than my Tesla Model S for one pedal driving); wasn't bothered by the A-pillar (but wasn't driving on windy roads)/thought visibility was good/better than in the Air. New screens are lovely. UI/UX is solid (and my husband gave it quite the workout, I'm sure to the despair of the Fashion Island staff given he turned off Sanctuary Mode and all their demo videos to do). I also got in trouble for testing out the third row (despite having been encouraged to do by one of the sales associates). After an hour of people flouting the no-third-row-testing rule, they seemed to have given up on enforcing it.

Our production car has a pre-vin assigned (only know this because Fashion Island team looked it up)--which is an issue because my husband wants the big wheel combo after seeing in person (despite having made me change to the small wheels for range when that option became available lol. I should have known that he is genetically predisposed to only being able to purchase low profile summer tires). Apparently a config change after having a pre-vin assigned causes you to lose your pre-vin and go back into the endless queue. Our sales associate is conferring with the production team right now to see how long of a delay this might cause so that we can make a final decision. He claimed that "production" takes 4-6 weeks and pre-vins were generally assigned a vin within a week or two.

Other things of note: green is better in indeed person than in pictures; Tahoe on the Gravity is more tolerable than in the Air imho but still quite orange. I did not at all like the Yosemite on the test drive vehicle and agree to others' observations that it looks "blueish" and "dingy." There was a solid and increasing crowd at Fashion Island when we left (we got there at 10:15am and were able to do a test drive earlier than our timeslot and the guy did let us do some parking garage driving and parking tests in addition to their standard drive).

Won't let me edit my above, but this is important: My sales advisor found out that the change to 22"/23" wheels would have caused an *8 week delay* unless I wanted to switch to the Yosemite interior since they had no Green/Tahoe/22-23 unassigned vins in the upcoming build schedule (seems odd since that's the most popular?) But since I dislike the Yosemite more than I dislike the small wheels, I'll stick with my pre-vin and hope of seeing a Gravity in June. So I guess before you make any changes, make sure you don't have a pre-vin # assigned!

That's interesting and reflects what another poster was told. Lucid apparently isn't doing their production planning around incoming orders but based on other factors -- perhaps paint shop schedules and/or parts arrivals? -- and then trying to match orders to what's in the production queue.

@iThinkEV posted that his sales associate said there were still plenty of Gravity Dream Edition slots open. And there are some early Dream orders that don't even have VINs assigned yet. So it seems that cars are coming off the production line rather slowly. Or maybe, as a recent flyover video indicated, KSA-bound cars are taking up some of the current production capacity.

When Lucid talked about a slow production ramp, I had assumed that meant during the four months that passed between the December customer deliveries and now. But maybe I was wrong, and the slow ramp is just now getting underway?
