Gravity Delivery Discussion

I was hoping to get one of the later production vehicles for the DE, and I wasn’t expecting to have mine slated for production before you as I believe you had one of the very first orders.

I went with Aurora Green, Tahoe, 22/23, 7 seats. My original GT order was placed about midday on 11/7/24. That order was directly updated to DE rather than a new order being created.

I know my posting about this might sound as if I'm impatient or upset that we don't yet have a delivery date, but I'm actually fine with it, and perhaps for the same reason you were hoping for a later production unit.

I just really like to try to suss out what is going on behind the scenes in an organization by its outward signs, and I'm particularly interested in how Lucid runs things for a couple of reasons: huge fan of the company and hoping it stays around, and a fairly hefty stock position in the company.

I think order of delivery is at least partially throttled by how much complaining one does on this forum, as determined by borski.

That did occur to me . . . but you should know by now that I just can't help myself. 🥴

Interesting. Our two DE orders are still showing "Ordered" and the "View Order" link only brings up the sales agreements. We ordered a GT the morning orders opened back in November and switched it to a DE order the day DE orders opened on 2/26. The second DE was ordered on 3/31.

Do you mind saying what your color, wheel, and seating selections are?
@hmp10 - From your Lucid Motors "Dashboard", click on "Owner's Manual and Software Updates"

Mine says:

"All Owner’s Manual releases can be found here. The Owner’s Manual is regularly updated with the latest information. It is customized to your vehicle.

Lucid Gravity Dream Edition VIN:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX "

(X'd out VIN...)

Yeah, mine only lists my Air.

I’ve seen your posts, so I know :).

My configuration is the same as @Udon1122’s, and different wheels from @billvb but otherwise similar. Maybe it’s all just random though!

@hydbob, any sign of a VIN in your account?

Yeah, mine only lists my Air.
The vehicle loaded on the /portal/documentation page either depends on the last order you selected in your account dashboard, or the vin query parameter. But if your Gravity status is still “Ordered” then I guess it makes sense.

Both our orders on the dashboard still just show "Ordered" with no VIN given.

They also both say, "you will be assigned a Sales Specialist soon for further guidance." I got notice of who our sales specialist was the same afternoon I placed the original order back on November 7 and heard from him the next day. So it seems nothing is being updated on my dashboard.

Yes, I have a Gravity DE order showing “In Production”, so I guess that’s the distinction.

The dashboard also says, "please provide some details to help facilitate the production and delivery process". The only requested information I have not yet submitted is my insurance information, but I cannot get coverage bound until I have a VIN.

Did you get your VIN before you submitted your insurance information?

I just submitted proof of an existing insurance policy for another vehicle (as I did for my Air GT order as well). I did this right away upon placing the order.

@hmp10 My portal has the same copy about being assigned a sales specialist soon (I already have one) and providing further details, but I only completed the registration info. No proof of insurance yet. Not leasing or financing.

I did all that as well, but same state as @hmp10. 🤷‍♂️

Would you mind sharing the first 8 digits (or, at least, digits 4 through 8)? Those only identify the vehicle characteristics and nothing about your specific vehicle; see Wikipedia if you are in doubt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_identification_number#Components

In another thread we saw that the US-market GGT vehicles are coded G1GHJ. Yours will be G1xxx and I'm curious what the other 3 values are. (The first is likely "D"...)

Hey @jered - that same string of characters from my VIN is "G1DKJ". Surprisingly, the characters at the start of the VIN bear no correlation to those at the start of my '23 Air GT's VIN.

Thanks! Here's a previous thread on the Air VIN structure: https://lucidowners.com/threads/updated-vin-structure.1099/

I hadn't noticed before that Air has a WMI of "50E" while the Gravity is "7UU". For some reason the former is assigned to "Lucid Motors passenger car" while the latter is assigned to "Lucid Motors MPV/SUV". I don't know enough about that bit of the industry to say if this is normal.

This is helpful, though! We now know that:
Digit 6: "G" = Grand Touring, "D" = Dream Edition
Digit 7: "H" = GT Drive Unit, "K", DE Drive Unit
Digit 8: "J" -- it's possible that this is common across all vehicles, or perhaps this denotes the 7-seat config and the 5-seat will differ.

Digit 8 is “K” for 5-seat.
