Vegan vs Leather interior, to massage or not to massage

Hello, everyone! So I'm looking at possibly getting my first Lucid. I had a model S a few years back, and am excited to possibly get an Air Touring. One thing I'm curious about is the vegan PureLuxe vs the leather interior. Any strong opinions? The two cars I'm looking at in inventory are almost identical. The difference is one has PureLuxe with 20 way adjustable seats with heat, ventilation and massage, while the other has the 14 seats with heat and ventilation. Any strong opinions here? I've seen some things online saying the PureLuxe is great with the massage, but my Lucid salesguy said the interior quality isn't as nice with the vegan upholstery. Thoughts?

I went with massage seats and I don't think I could ever go back to not having it in a future vehicle. My car is a lease so my decision was based on getting as many features as possible since I knew I was going to turn the car in at the end of the lease. This way I could try massage seats out to see if it was a deal breaker for future car purchases.

EDIT: I would agree with the sales guy about the interior. The leather is much nicer, but for me, it wasn't a deal breaker. I wanted to try the massage seats for sure so I gave up on the leather to get the seats.

The Interior takes a huge hit in quality with Pure Lux in my opinion, and Vegan leather is just oil-based plastic so there is not a lot of difference in my mind environmentally, especially since a lot of the front cabin is Alcantara, which is synthetic. Choose the message seats, and you'll never go back.

Thanks for this. I have massage seats on my current car which I won't be getting rid of, and they are indeed nice. I noticed on the 2025 Touring models that the vegan finish has that kind of rough interior for finishes on the dash and on car doors. If yours has that, does that rough finish ever become annoying if your arm is resting on it on the doors?

Appreciated!

Thanks for this. For the Touring model, the only massage seat option available on current models is with vegan interior. I can't get massage with the leather. Is that the same for when you got yours?

Interesting, I have the Grand Touring so I would not know. Sorry.

It's really all personal preference. Because I have a bad back, I spent 3hr in the showroom sitting in various seating options to be SURE whatever I got didn't bother my back on long trips.

After all that, I really wanted the Purelux massage seats, but they didn't have one in stock that I was willing to buy (I will NOT do a glass roof in Texas!)

So I ended up getting the 'basic' 12-way Purelux seats because, although the rest of the interior is a bit nicer with the 14-way real leather seats, I actually found the 12way seat far more comfortable.

And I wouldn't call the fabric interior with them bad in any way. It's still pretty nice. It's certainly a FAR cry from the deep red carpet and plastic interior of the 1976 Pinto station wagon my mom had when I was growing up! And actually my kiddos rather dig the way the fabric is done.

Thanks for the detailed response. As of now I am in my 7 day $500 down period. I currently have the leather trim with no massage, but the Pureluxe with massage is tempting and I can switch to that model if I want, if it doesn’t get sold. I also opted for the aluminum roof, like you. I’ve heard several people say it’s better for hot or cold weather versus glass canopy.

I’ve noticed the doors with the Pureluxe trim for the 2025 Air Touring model I’m eyeballing has some of that rougher fabric where it appears the arm would rest while driving. Is that true? Does it itch or scratch?

Thank you!

I splurged and got all the options including the leather and 20 way massage seats. I absolutely love the massaging seats. Truly great. The leather is very nice furniture grade quality too but if I had to pick just one, I'd opt for the massage over the leather.
They didn't have many Purluxe at the time so I'm not sure how those are but I can attest to how much I enjoy the massage.

I haven't noticed it, but I rarely rest my arm on it. I tend to either lean my left arm up on the top of the door (bottom of window), or I lean my other arm on the center console.

That said, I haven't noticed it in any bothersome way when I touch it putting windows up or down, it opening the door.

But I know other folks that probably would be very bothered by it, so I'd really recommend sitting in one and really trying it out yourself if at all possible.

Massage is so nice. My current car has it and it’s great. I get it! Thanks for your perspective.

Good call. The dealership is a haul from where I live, but it’s probably worth it. Thanks for the input.

Please note that on the Touring trim massage seats are available only with the Pureluxe interior (not with the leather one), at least accordingly to the configurator. If you want a leather interior with massage - you'll need to go with GT. I would definitely go with massage seats, they are really good. I've head massage seats on my prior E-class and 5-series cars, and Lucid's ones definitely beat them...

Good tips. Everyone seems to love the massaging seats! Thank you.

When I was shopping for my Lucid, I felt the Purluxe seats felt softer and more comfortable. I would definitely try to sit in both interiors and draw your own conclusion.

I've still never sat in a car with Purluxe. I'll need to seek one out.

Thank you, everyone for your input. I made the trip to the dealership today, sat in the Pureluxe and used the massaging seats. The Pureluxe felt fine to me. I might slightly prefer the feel of the leather, but that's probably a familiarity bias. However, the massaging seats were spectacular. They did not disappoint. The massaging was on the seat as well as the back, which was outstanding and a pleasant surprise. Visibly, I prefer the leather, but the Pureluxe is fine, and the sales guy was good and said the vegan leather was from the same company that supplies seating for Rolls Royce, Maybach and Bentley (I think he said those three), so he did a good job of convincing me.

So I think I'm going to pull the trigger now and buy the car. Any final tips any of you have for cost savings or other things to be aware of with Lucid? Thank you!

I signed on the dotted line to get a new Air Touring. Gray, stealth, 20 inch wheels, upgraded sound, vegan leather with massage/heated/ventilated seats, comfort and convenience package, aluminum roof. Scheduled to pick up on Saturday. Thanks, everyone.
