Low-Regenerative mode?

Is the low-regenerative mode still only available on the Pure?
I test drove a GT in March of last year and found the "Standard" regenerative mode to be "grabby".
I would liken the "Standard" to be similar to the "L" or maximum-regenerative mode of the Chevy Volt Gen 1 and Gen 2 and Cadillac ELR (I've owned all 3).
I would liken the "High" to be similar to the violent and unsettling grabbiness of the Tesla Model S.

Yes. It’s weird. I’m sure someone likes it, but hurling a 5336lb car around on just friction brakes (albeit great friction brakes) feels… wrong somehow.

It’s still fun though - just super weird to coast at speed *with* instant torque.

Would be fun to try driving it “like an ICE” at a track.

(Unless it’s the sapphire, because those carbon ceramic brakes don’t count)

This will make it easier to keep the rust off the rotor faces.

I found the high regeneration mode to be perfect and the standard mode to be "not enough".

When I first got my GT I thought the high regeneration mode was also grabby. 2 days later, I got used to it and now I wouldn't want to drive in anything less than "High" mode.

I think the one thing I'm not a fan of when using high regen is when i want to adjust my foot on the accelerator pedal to get more comfortable (for example on a road trip). The car will decelerate hard while I do so.

My solution to this is cruise control. But that is a good point.

Funny, one of my concerns in ordering my Pure RWD was that there would not be ENOUGH regen as there is no “high” mode due to there only being one motor. The Medium setting feels like I should have no trouble one-pedaling with it, but I only did a 10 minute test drive with it. Anyone else have thoughts on regen in their Pure RWD?

It has 3 modes now. Off, low and standard. Vehicles with awd has a high mode I believe. I do single peddle in standard mode just fine on my pure RWD. Wife uses low and use a combination of regen and friction breaks.

I just got my 2025 Pure RWD a day ago, and also felt that the high regen mode was too much. I am going to try it in standard. I have not seen an OFF yet in the buttons.

I am coming from a Honda Clarity which had paddles to set 4 levels of regen and none. Plus hitting the brakes also put it regen. I felt that level of control was perfect! I would usually coast into traffic lights, and increase regen as I got closer. I rarely needed brakes.

During my nine years of driving EVs, I figuratively held the hands of several friends as they got used to their new EVs. Everyone of them adjusted to regenerative braking quickly and now would not want a car without it.

I think we tend to forget that, when we were first learning to drive, we had to learn to modulate friction braking for smooth vehicle operation. It's not an innate or intuitive skill. It's the same with regenerative braking. It's a learned skill . . . and one that comes fairly easily if you open your mind to it.

When I got my first Tesla in 2015, it took me all of 20 minutes to decide regenerative braking was the most pleasant surprise of EV driving besides the instant torque.

There was an earlier thread that debated that extensively. Much of the debate was filled with misunderstanding of how regenerative braking works along with some misinterpretation of what Porsche was doing to limit regeneration in some circumstances and why.

Bottom line for me: with Lucid's obsession with range and efficiency, I think turning off regen would have been an early feature of Lucids if it conferred any significant efficiency advantage.

Basically, every time you reduce speed without regen you're missing an opportunity to recapture the car's lost kinetic energy.

However, you would want to turn it off in the snow.

There is no High mode on any RWD Air as there is only one motor and therefore less ability to capture the kinetic energy of the vehicle (one motor rather than two)…
