Does anyone know if ambient lighting is the same across models and options? We have a touring and I felt that the lighting in the doors where arm rests are seem a little dim like non existent…. I was in a GT loaner and the lighting around the arm rest is quite distinctive and “bright”… trying to figure out if it is a trim thing or an issue with mine.

You know what, from what I understand, the ambient lighting might actually vary between the, Touring and GT trims. In the GT, the lighting is definitely more prominent, especially around the armrests, I think it's more of a trim difference rather than an issue with your car, Also, check the brightness settings in the menu, because that could sometimes be the cause. Some models also have different lighting modes, so it's worth exploring that 🥸

The trims don't vary in terms of lighting. It's the PureLuxe vs the leather.

I wonder if the LED's installed have the capability to generate colors beyond what we currently have?

I had a Mercedes recently as a loaner. There's a LED light strip running all around the front and into the doors. You could set it to any color of the rainbow, even two tone things that would switch back and forth as you were driving. It was fun to play with for a day, but I settled on something mellow and left it there after that.

There is an upper and a lower LED light bar that backlight the ambient light strips in the doors. Each bar has a separate power cable, and if one cable comes loose (as happened in my car) the ambient lighting appears dim. Are both door panels equally lit in your car?

Yep, gimmicky for sure.

Yeah both doors have same lighting. But I have purlux so I guess no fancy lights here.

Has anyone replaced the white ambient lights in the doors and footwells of a PureLux-equipped car with colored LEDs?

If we can’t increase the intensity of the lighting beyond what it is now (very dim), I question if we’d ever even see colored lighting.

I hadn't considered that part of the equation, but I guess it is fairly dim. I suppose it may be a lower wattage-equivalent LED, as opposed to lower voltage. Or that the voltage would be adjustable.
