Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

Agreed. HA drives too close to the right. Lane Assist thinks I drive close to the left.
 
@joec, please add me to to having the touring delivered on 12/31 at Goose Island in Chicago. Thanks for keeping everyone and everything updated. After the initial thrill of finally getting my Lucid Air, I noticed a number of fitment and quality issues, misaligned panels, large gaps, deep scratches on the trunk, etc. that should have been caught by quality control. I guess the next step is to send an e-mail with pics of these issues to customer care and hopefully they get fixed soon. But I do love the car nonetheless.

Can't be sure, of course, but it sounds like maybe something was discovered during the final inspection, and that maybe was going to take too long to correct to make it in time?

Hard to know. Certainly frustrating.

I was one of the very early folks to get a VIN, and I fully expected my delivery to take place in early December. But I ended up not getting the car until the 24th. Still under the deadline, but weeks later than I would have guessed. I was never told for certain, but I think my car had that issue with the trunk actuator that some people reported here. It at least needed to be checked again, if not replaced. And that caused the delay.

With the final push they were doing those final weeks, I imagine a line had to be drawn at some point between what could possibly be delivered and what couldn't. And then all efforts went to those that could. That would make sense to me. Which might explain why you didn't hear from your DA during those weeks. I have a few questions outstanding with my DA post delivery that I haven't gotten a response to yet. But I kinda figured it might be that way for another week or so.
 
I got my VIN on 12/8 and am still waiting on delivery. Car has been "preparing for delivery" for well over a week now. All that being said, I'm not sure whats normal or not... I think its all kind of up in the air with how many other cars the service center received and is trying to ship out at any point in time. According to my DA, my service center just got a ton of cars to turn out at once and PDI is kind of a bottleneck in the process

I take it your vehicle is at the Riviera Beach location? Also waiting at PDI to be wrapped up to be transported. I suspect we'll receive our vehicles around the same time. We also have similar builds.

Yes sir. I would get if I were in the queue waiting for inspection, but from my understanding my car is is/has been undergoing inspection since at least Thursday or Friday? I asked if there was a problem they had found and he said no, internally it would be coded as a secondary inspection or something and this is just due to their backlog of cars to turn out. 🤷‍♂️

I can't imagine the stress these dudes are under having 300+ people pestering them constantly about their cars lol. Its just hard to wait when you're this close!

Mine hasn't even hit 'Preparing for Delivery' status yet.

I did also see from the bank that Lucid was sent their funds for the financed portion of the payment - which surprised me, and likely means I'll be making a first installment on a car I do not have in my garage. 🤷‍♂️

That should not happen. I was told the financing schedule starts on delivery, and that’s how it worked out for me.

My DA called today. He said VIN assignment will be early to mid February. This is done at the time the vehicle enters production.
Production takes about one week. Delivery varies, could be two weeks to Chicago.

Delivery likely 3 weeks after VIN assignment. This means delivery as early as end of February or more likely early March.

That means from initial reservation to delivery could be under 10 months.

Mine funded 12/22. I did not get a say in the matter - and clearly it was not based on accurate delivery information. I can't even figure out how to access or view financial information - the email I received from Lucid Sales thanking me for my money, says I can do certain things by 'simply logging into my Lucid account'....but there are no such links, that i can see, to get to financial information.

Yeah, you need to get in touch with your DA to figure out what is going on. If they are still not responding, maybe try your SA? If you don’t have that info, contact customer care and ask to have a new DA assigned.

Joe, please remove the VIN assigned to my order, post #3147.
I received a depressing email today from my DA telling me:
"In the last weeks of the year we were dealing with a lot of volume, and some errors were made in our system. The VIN that I shared with you was actually incorrectly assigned – it was the wrong configuration. So the systems team rectified this, but I missed the rectification and you fell off the radar in my system.

I apologize for any confusion and my lack of response, but I want to let you know that a vehicle has just been completed that matches your configuration.

If you like, we can assign this vehicle to you and proceed with getting it delivered as soon as possible."

I had agreed to add DDP to my original config when I was told that it would help in meeting the EOY deadline for the tax credit. My thought was I could accept DDP for the end cost of $1500. But missing the credit and the $9000 cost of DDP is something I am going to have to think about. My reply to my DA was if there is any way you can help me out, now's the time to tell me.
Waiting for a reply...... depressed and a little pissed off.

Michael at Tyson's was great and spent a ton of time with me getting the car set up and answering all my questions (despite being super busy with deliveries). The drive home to Baltimore was fantastic. I've never had a car with Highway Assist functionality - it worked great and made the drive all the more pleasurable. I found no fit/finish issues at all - the car is gorgeous. I have had a couple of software glitches. First, when choosing Applications, I get the normal list, but then regardless of which app I choose, I get the Sirius XM screen (listed at the top) with a blank screen below. I tried the left turn signal and valet card resets but no luck. I ended up doing a factory reset the next day (scary) which fixed the issue but did require me to set up the car again. I also had one occasion where the driver side door handle didn't present itself (all other handles did). I had to get in the passenger side and reach across to open to door from inside. After this, everything has worked fine. Finally, I was so excited to listen to Dolby Atmos tracks that I signed up for Tidal forgetting to use the Tidal code provided on my Lucid dashboard. Since then I have not figured a way to get my free Tidal trial. I emailed Tidal and hope to get a reply on Tuesday. Prior to delivery, I told my DA I was interested in removing the aerocaps from my 19" wheels and replacing them with the silver wheel cap and black lugnut covers. While these weren't preinstalled, they were present in the trunk and only took about 15 minutes for me to install the next day. I do think this change improves the look (though it sacrifices some range). I also ordered the Lucid graphite all weather mats which I think look nice on the SC interior. Below are some photos from the Tysons delivery Friday and then from my driveway earlier today.

Regarding your Tidal comment ... where on the Lucid Dashboard is the Tidal free trial information provided? I just received delivery myself and have been trying to locate the login/password for the complementary trial of Tidal.

Production takes about one week. Delivery varies, could be two weeks to Chicago.

Delivery likely 3 weeks after VIN assignment. This means delivery as early as end of February or more likely early March.

That means from initial reservation to delivery could be under 10 months.

I got a similar call today---I spec'ed regular DD and metal roof. DA said to expect the car late Feb--early March

This tracks with my expectation that Lucid will be “caught up” on Touring orders before mid year.
