This is going to be a re-occuring theme, we should just have a single thread to talk about it. This is my 5th EV and it's the main topic every winter season.

For example I'm down to 2.7 Mi/Kwh on my new GT in 40F weather avg speed 70-80mph on 21" stealth wheel with covers removed.

Interested in seeing others setup Temp, Wheels, Trim. Speed.
 
This will be my first winter with an EV. How does one use battery pre-conditioning while on the charger to pre-heat the car? Is it only available on L2 charging or the Lucid Charging station?
 
Pre-conditioning sets the battery up to accept DC Fast charging at a high rate than without pre-conditioning. If you use navigation to the DCFC the car will turn on pre-condition automatically. Otherwise turn it on ~30minutes before arriving at a DCFC.

Yes, this part I know, I was curious if I can use preheating to warm the battery from ice cold just for driving from my home, not for DC Fast charging.

@illopp00 - In the Lucid Mobile app in the Charging panel you can manually start pre-conditioning of the battery before you leave your home. In the Vehicle panel you can also set the cabin temperature to what you want before you head out.
 
Tomorrow, I start a 48’ish hour trip in temperature than will be between the teens and mid 30’s (Fahrenheit). Overnight the car will be outside, plugged in via 1kWh mobile charger) and temperatures are projected to be between 12 and 18F at that time.

Not expecting any snow or ice accumulation, but some wind.

I have a 2025 GT. Anyone else done something similar this year, so far? I plan to share some results here when finished.

I don't have a 2025 GT. Mine is a 2022 GT. What elevation change and what average and peak speeds will you be driving at?
 
We go from about 4000 ft to 5200 ft above sea level, and then back to about 4100 ft, one way.

Average / peak speeds between 75 and 80 mph.
I have driven my 2022 GT in conditions similar to the elevation transitions and speeds you quoted. Under those circumstances, starting with 100% SoC, I think a 350 mile range (100% SoC to say 5% SoC) is probably achievable. With the lower temperature, my GUESS is, the achievable range will be below 300 miles. If I were doing the drive, I would plan for 250 mile range, 100% SoC to 5% SoC.

I'd be very interested in what your results show as your car has a bigger battery than my 23 GT and has a heat pump. The YT range tests of your car show it is much more efficient than mine and can get EPA at 70mph.

When I drive up to Whistler from Vancouver my car consumes about 2 km of range for every km it travels so about 1/2 of epa, during winter with 19" wheels and winter tires. Big elevation change though
 
I'm currently in South Bend, IN, driving back to DC tomorrow afternoon / evening / night. Temps here will be in the low 20s. Charger congestion worries me more than range, although on the drive up here on Tuesday it was totally fine. There's a couple of new Shell Recharge stations en route which make life a lot easier, I stopped at the one in Youngstown, OH because the EA at Cranberry, PA appears to be down completely.

@BS8899 @chinesejpl — I charged to 100% right before we left, and the system did not report cold battery. I was parked in a garage at about 45F, and it was in the mid 20s F when I left.

The route was at freeway speeds within about 5 minutes, and the heat pump was running and the battery was draining very quickly, for the first 15 - 20 minutes. If I had to guess, it was probably running at about 2 m/kWh, and then improved to something in the 3kWh range for the trip. The heat in the cabin was set at 65F, and nobody was using seat warmers, and no wheel warmer. Stereo was on at low volume most of the time. Temperature was as high as about 34F and as low as about 24F, through the trip. I would say the time-blended average was about 30F. Mostly sunny, not much wind.

Three occupants in the car and some luggage. Results are equal to the “Since Last Charge” figure in the attached picture. The other results are basically lifetime efficiency for the car (I’ve never reset the trip meters).

The results are spot on with what @BS8899 suggested above.

Best I’ve ever recorded on a long trip has been about 4.15 kWh. I forgot to note previously that I’m on the stock 19” wheels / tires, and I keep the panels installed in the wheels.

Thanks for sharing!! I was watching the out of spec video today comparing cyber truck and Rivian R1T. Attached is what they got in weather that was in 40s but then warmed up a bit. Cyber truck got 2.08 miles per kWh and Rivian 1.89. They were driving 70mph GPS. No passengers and only driver side climate on - passenger off and rear off.

I think you got respectable numbers at 3.14 in much colder weather, probably driving faster than 70 mph. I was thinking Lucid would be in the 2.5 ish range.

I’m was driving 75 - 82 for almost all of the drive. I’m happy with those results, and wonder what the impacts would have been if the weather had been quite a bit colder. I might get to learn that on my return trip.

I may post again with more details of the results of trickle charging (110v outlet on the mobile charger) in very cold weather, and temps in the high teens for much of the return trip.

My car is outside all year, the coldest it has seen is -15F last January and it didn't want to take a charge until I drove it, other than that it was all good. The car also saw those temps December of 2022.
 
I hit 1.86 Miles / kWh running the heater before I got in (not plugged in) then driving 80mph Range at 75% shows 262 miles. Seems really low.

What's the temp and elevation change?

If the temp is in the teens/20s and you are diving @80mph, your range (100% SoC) on the GT will be below 300 miles. Thus, @75% SoC, 260 miles is to be expected. It will likely be less if you plan to do significant uphill driving. As I suggested earlier, I'd plan for 250 mile range (80% SoC to 5%).
