When does the Air get a Gravity Style UX?

My first time posting to the owners forum. I have owned a 2025 Air Touring for about 9 months. I think the car is fantastic as an automotive driving and ownership experience, provided I exclude the software UX completely from my assessment.

The software UX is rubbish. Far too many bugs that intrude regularly and the user interface requires a driver to take their attention away from the road frequently to do simple things like changing Sirius stations while keeping Carplay on the screen for navigation. Any drive over 30 minutes has a high likelihood that Carplay bluetooth connection or some other feature will stop working properly for a period of time. I was hopeful that the reliability and UX would improve, but a recent experience with their software support team leaves me very pessimistic about the future.

About 6 months ago I noticed that the Lucid App for my Apple Watch Ultra 2 did not work properly. Screen 2 was completely blank. I did all the usual delete and reinstall of the app on my watch and phone. Have waited through several OS updates and also a new phone. Bug persisted. I reported it to support and they asked me to do the usual and I also provided screenshots. Several weeks passed. I followed up. They said their QA team were unable to re-create the issue. I suggested that QA confirm directly with me that their testing assumptions from the notes (or JIRA ticket) are accurate. They responded and said they tested with other watches and it is fine on their end. They refused to take the step of confirming that their test assumptions (configuration) are accurate.

Why is this relevant to the car software and my pessimism about its future?

Fixing their Apple watch app or identifying a bug is infinitely simpler than identifying and fixing bugs in the car software. If their software team does not have the processes, experience, understanding or desire on how to validate basic assumptions when doing testing, QA or troubleshooting for simple problems, then I believe there is little hope that they will get far on the more complex issues.

As a side note, I watched the interview with the lead software folks at Lucid on the Savagegeese Youtube channel and I felt even worse about the future. They don't appear to be people who like driving cars and understand what it means to be driver focused. They seemed much more interested in using the screens for entertainment and creating a "mood".

Lucid please hire software engineers who like driving cars!

The hardware is also there in every touring to give them 800+ HP, but they don’t.

I’m not saying it isn’t possible! I’m saying it isn’t crazy for them to differentiate this way; it’s not just about the hardware.
You are right, and they don’t owe it to me, but man it would make me smile. Also now that DD Pro has improved so much they could do it without cannibalizing their more expensive offering and keep up with the Jones (and Hyundai) at the same time. From my lips to Lucid’s ears…

When does the Air get a Gravity style UX? Obviously the hardware is different in both cars, but it is crazy to me the Air has a completely different software look and feel. It seems to be a relatively simple design change to make them match more closely. Why is this not a priority to keep software interface design similar across the two models? To me it’s inexcusable. I mean will the Earth have a third experience?!? What is going on with this software team?
We should definately have a voice to request that from Lucid!! WIth electric car we not only buy the cars but also buy the software update - quiete expensive cars I must say for that not to happen!

I feel for you . Totally agree that something needs to be done. The car is fine but sofware and hardware system is as you described. Just try full self driving Tesla. I was so pissed of the Lucid sofware and fake "dream drive" that I bought a Tesle FSD and Lucid is in the garage waiting for future software updates or and debugging or get obsolete because Lucid is going down the drain with overpromissing and underdelivering.

Is this the info we deserve to see when there is an update?!
I mean, what more do you want? Every update isn’t necessarily a big one. The notes in this seem pretty clear.

Describe to me, in detail, what it is you think you 'deserve'? I can already guess we don't align, but I'm very curious.

But to answer your question directly: this update reduced unnecessary warnings (yay!) and improved system stability (they fixed bugs!).

I don't want to get into the complaints about software; I have a 2023 AGT and I really like the current software. BUT, I am curious about the timeline for introducing UX 3.0 for the Air. Is there any new news about that?

I think it’s just end of summer/fall at this point.

Borski, Do you know what bugs they addressed? I haven't gotten the update yet, just curious.

I am expecting my AT to be updated to ux 3.0, which I understand to be like gravity ux, in late summer 2026. That said I had to wait a while for Android auto...

Fall of this year. I’m pretty sure they needed to get UX3 on par with current 2.8 feature set (like CarPlay/Android auto) before starting to move cars to the new UX.
