So please, take this with many grains of salt.
At the customer event in Seattle last summer, we were told UX3 will come to Air, but we shouldn’t expect it « soon », which at that time I estimated to be End of Year, early 2026.
Last year it was mentioned on the (Q3 or Factory Day) slide deck that Air will get multi task and Dashcam which is currently part of UX3 on Gravity.
From some conversations it is my understanding that UX3 was developed for Gravity and ccc_v2 Airs such as Sapphire and newer Airs. There seems to be some memory / performance issues on the ccc_v1 that prevents multitask from working smoothly.
There’s also a big technical difference in Gravity with everything being on 1 SOC while Air has 2. But Gravity Entertainment module has the same perf as ccc_v2.
All that to say that I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sapphire and ccc_v2 airs have a very similar entertainment experience / feature set in UX3, and ccc_v1 Airs either blocked at UX 2.9 or having a UX3.0 experience without some of the functionality.
As for the lack of Android Auto / CarPlay on the Gravity, I vaguely recall conversations about Apple/Android requiring to be displayed on the top most screen of a car, but it wouldn’t make sense in the gravity to have this giant entertainment screen not being used.
Again, take all this as highly speculative, even if grounded on some bits of info. Plan changes over time, and software is always a struggle
