When does the Air get a Gravity style UX? Obviously the hardware is different in both cars, but it is crazy to me the Air has a completely different software look and feel. It seems to be a relatively simple design change to make them match more closely. Why is this not a priority to keep software interface design similar across the two models? To me it’s inexcusable. I mean will the Earth have a third experience?!? What is going on with this software team?

Air is a 5 year old car right? We might not ever get it. The only manufacturer I've seen do that is Tesla.

It is a model that has been around for a while, but it is still being made and sold new and they can do over the “air” updates just like Tesla

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that the Gravity UX is supposed to come to the Air and was designed so that would be possible, but I don't think it has been said that it will come to older Airs. We will see. The numbering scheme hints at it to me. Gravity started at 3.0 and we are at 2.8.9 with Air.

That said, I want them to take their time about it. The Air software is full-featured and kind of mostly stable. Gravity doesn't seem to be there yet and is still missing some key features (like CarPlay). Also, I know where all the controls I are that I regularly use. I was sitting in a Gravity the other day and while I thought the software looked nice, it will be a learning curve.

The Midsized models will have a UX that is built on the same foundation as Gravity.

I've heard that due to hardware limitations, some (but not all) elements of Gravity's UX may come to the Air in the future. With the experience of a few years of Air ownership, I'd expect this to happen slowly at best.

Right, they would have to hardware cycle refresh and nix the sliding bottom panel screen.

Most of the changes would seem to be somewhat easy to implement if they are just design and motion changes rather than true functional changes. Fingers crossed!

It took Lucid more than two years to allow Air users to close their garage door while the car was in reverse, and three years for Android Auto.

Good point but you would hope they have added and made changes to that team and process!

It seems to me that if would be immensely complicated, given how enormously integrated the UX is in the operation of the car.

Honestly, I am very happy with the software in the Air right now. Please don't screw it up.

So please, take this with many grains of salt.

At the customer event in Seattle last summer, we were told UX3 will come to Air, but we shouldn’t expect it « soon », which at that time I estimated to be End of Year, early 2026.

Last year it was mentioned on the (Q3 or Factory Day) slide deck that Air will get multi task and Dashcam which is currently part of UX3 on Gravity.

From some conversations it is my understanding that UX3 was developed for Gravity and ccc_v2 Airs such as Sapphire and newer Airs. There seems to be some memory / performance issues on the ccc_v1 that prevents multitask from working smoothly.

There’s also a big technical difference in Gravity with everything being on 1 SOC while Air has 2. But Gravity Entertainment module has the same perf as ccc_v2.

All that to say that I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sapphire and ccc_v2 airs have a very similar entertainment experience / feature set in UX3, and ccc_v1 Airs either blocked at UX 2.9 or having a UX3.0 experience without some of the functionality.

As for the lack of Android Auto / CarPlay on the Gravity, I vaguely recall conversations about Apple/Android requiring to be displayed on the top most screen of a car, but it wouldn’t make sense in the gravity to have this giant entertainment screen not being used.

Again, take all this as highly speculative, even if grounded on some bits of info. Plan changes over time, and software is always a struggle 😅

Love this even if it is speculative!

I am hoping soon and while they at it, they need to improve the DDP. I love my AGT, a well-built care, master of range, and a best on the road. However, I just added a used 2022 Model X Plain and just tried the FSD, man it is sweet and I don't understand while Lucid haven't made the leap into the tech aspect of the Air.

The software is the only thing holding this car back. To your point it is crazy to me the Dream Drive Premium doesn’t do lane centering with all of the cameras. It has the hardware to do it. My daughter’s Hyundai does it! The software reskin seems like an easy way to transform, upgrade and level the experience in the Air to the Gravity though without having to change anything in the interior. Hopefully they realize that.

Why is it crazy? They had this listed when people bought DreamDrive Premium. Even if it didn’t do lane centering solely because they wanted people to buy Pro, that should also not be surprising.

It’s an upgrade feature on the Air. More comes standard on Gravity. But they’re upfront about it 🤷‍♂️

The hardware is there. It would be similar to Tesla autopilot and the FSD upgrade. Premium could should be autopilot equivalent and Pro could be FSD equivalent. All the hardware is there in the premium upgrade package for autopilot style lane centering is what I meant.

The hardware is also there in every touring to give them 800+ HP, but they don’t.

I’m not saying it isn’t possible! I’m saying it isn’t crazy for them to differentiate this way; it’s not just about the hardware.

Respectfully, it 'seems simple' yet we have no idea what's involved to make this happen so if course with no details or ideas on constraints, it would seem simple. Sorry, but it comes across as arrogant to (a) assume it is simple and (b) further assume that the only reason it hasn't happened is that it's not a priority. Lucid knows this is a desired feature. Although not publicly stated,, it may be that the incremental releases are small steps toward this goal. So, you've given input that you would like these features, so let's let lucid do their job in the way they know is fit, given that they know all the details of what's involved to accomplish this. If we'd like to know why it's not simple, that would be an interesting question although one that likely can't be answered publicly.
