Very poor experience with purchase of a car cover from the Lucid Store

This was my assumption when buying my Lucid Air. I also hoped that, instead of having to order one with a credit, they would just give me one at the delivery. When I was taking delivery I asked about it and the delivery person said he couldn't guarantee they were in stock, but he would check. It turned out they did have one right there so they just gave me the one they had so I never had to even order it.

Funnily enough, I am actually ordered one online too that I am going to pay for. I am going to use the mobile charger as my at home charger, I am not going to bother getting a hardwired one. I still want to have one I can keep in the car for emergencies though.
So they gave you a mobile charger at delivery. No credit issued.
And you have ordered an additional mobile charger to keep in your car.

Correct?

Seems like Lucid would keep a certain number of both chargers in showrooms. However, I have no idea of showroom storage capacity.

I may ask my SA to order one a few weeks ahead of my delivery.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Yep, once the one I ordered arrives I’ll have two. One for in the car and one in my garage.

From the reaction of the person at the delivery center I suspect most people don’t ask for a charger and I don’t think they offer them unprompted.

There are plenty of cheaper options on Amazon, but I liked that the lucid charger in its carrying case fits perfectly into a spot in the trunk. I also like that is has an adapter for L1 and L2 charging as well as an available adapter (as an extra purchase) for vehicle to vehicle charging.

So I could have had a free mobile charger has I only asked at delivery?

Here I am with 2 of the wrong car covers, no responses back from the store on the covers (again) and a mobile charger that I paid for as told to and can't retro the code on (or use for anything else) - no responses on that either from the delivery associate who told me she would handle it. I'm tempted to call my CC company and just have them sort the store orders out. It's a good thing the car itself is great, LOL.

Is there a phone number for the store? Not the generic customer care one (‭+1 (888) 995-8243‬) I don't want to trouble them, but if the store never reads email ([email protected]), I probably need to talk to someone.

Store... read your emails, it's pretty simple. If you don't, don't publish an address.

sorry to hear about your mobile cord issues. Fwiw I think it is crazy that they no longer include the 120/240v mobile charger 2024 was the last model year where they were included along with the $1000 credit for lucid level 2 charger. The mobile cord deletion isnt just lucid though, i just took delivery of a Silverado Ev work truck, and they included in the frunk a mobile cord carry bag but it was empty. :)

I received a $1000 credit for charging accessories. Having the same concerns about being able to charge from day 1, I simply called ahead and asked them to put the cable in the trunk for me at delivery. Its a shame that they didn't work that out better for you. Who wants to get a new car and then not be able to drive it for a whole without using public charging stations (few near me). As you said, you can always order a cable with the credit and then return the one you bought but that seems like a lot of extra cost and effort for both sides to get to the same result. I don't think, however, that you will have a leg to stand on trying to reverse the charge which is a completely valid and authorized charge on your part.

The higher end EV companies should really just price the vehicle to include a home charger and installation like Ford was doing to drum up sales. That would take a big unknown(and a potential PITA) off the customer’s plate. Throw in the charger and up to $1000 towards the installation - would build up plenty of goodwill too. How any maker selling electric cars doesn’t include ANY charging cords is beyond me.

Or at least the option of having a charger included with the purchase. Some customers may already have a charger or prefer another brand.

Main takeaway; do your homework!

There definitely was, from my email right after I picked up the car last November:

"Your charging accessory credit - You are invited to use your $1,000 Charging accessory allowance before 5/3/2025.¹"

I used it to get the mobile charger, V2V cable, and the 14-30 adapter (which I will likely never use, unless a VRBO rental has one for a dryer in the garage). Only was good for charging accessories, but those 3 items came to the better part of that $1k.
Same for me. It was $1000
I stand corrected!

Caution re ordering back ordered item.

Procedure by Lucid:

1- hold off shipping until all items ordered are in stock
2- the credit is a one time use triggered by shipment.

THEREFORE partial shipment triggers the one time use of the credit and whatever left over credit is void!

1-That is shipping is delayed if anything back ordered!
2-If you insist on partial, you then pay $ when back order becomes available.

It’s understandable but frustrating system. Much simpler is mobile charger delivered with every car free. Option to order wall charger and return mobile for credit at car delivery in sealed box. This is not perfect. But the current system is not as well.

AND THE CHARGERS ARE OVERPRICED.

Personally I just use mobile. Wall charger would be my option if not on a normal sleep schedule. Or had any other lifestyle issues impacted by charging time. ( for me, half my year is condo living - with someone else setting circuit capacity!)

When I drive 1000 miles I take mobile charger. In ten years of Tesla hardly ever used it on those trips though. And the usually on a 110 circuit and drove my host car locally.

I would look to buy a wall charger that allows you to control kw/hour ( ie amp draw) if that exists. Now I travel with two mobile chargers Tesla and LUCID mobile ones.

Tesla chargers do have that variable control for Tesla cars but the control is on the car side. My Tesla mobile charges the Lucid at 6 kw/hour. The Lucid mobile is faster (but not all panels have that capacity).

That was my plan by in NY ConEd does not include Lucid in their program yet so you need a "participating" charger to get the rebates, etc. The Charger was actually half the price of the cord.

I gave up on getting a Lucid Air when the delays caused me to find an alternative that checked as many boxes for me as the Lucid Air (probably forever given my stenosis but the mid-view might be a possibility) . So I have a Genesis GV60 Performance and I am on the Genesis owners forum. I have always suspected that manufacturers secretly view the forums to see what their customers are saying but that is it. It is wonderful that Lucid has @margie as a visible corporate representative on the forum and one who often acts as an ombudsperson when regular approaches have failed.

There is no such person on the Genesis forum nor was there one on the two BMW forums that I used to participate in. Lucid owners are extremely fortunate to have @margie on this forum.
Marqie. The q looks like a g in the sig. And I agree they are an excellent resource here.
