Unable To Place Order For Gravity (2027 Model Coming?)

Lucid should learn from others' mistakes when it comes to too many options. When Tesla launched the Model S, there were lots of choices...7 different battery sizes, 1 or 2 motors, sunroof or moonroof or painted roof, performance unlock, rear-facing jumpseats, etc. Eventually that was consolidated to two choices - Long Range or Plaid, FSD or not.

It's a normal thing in early production. I view it as a positive, proactive step toward improving initial quality, and reducing the potential burden on service centers.

Agreed. The more they can squash at the factory, the better. It does beg the question as to what the issue is.

If related to seats, I hope they can address the rear seat motor that everyone keeps complaining about. Just seems like something that would break long term with how strained it sounds.

If they aren’t even taking orders though… that means it must be something complicated or even a tooling issue right?

Could be just waiting for a redesigned part to arrive. Who knows.
 
When I had my vehicle in for service a couple weeks ago I had them look at this issue. I was told there was a new solution incoming however they didn't have a timeline on when the fix would be ready and that I would be put on a list once it is released.
 
Pure speculation but they could be beginning early re-tooling in preparation for the mid-size. I heard they recently built production prototypes that will likely be shown at the March 12th Investor day.

Considering they just hired a new Executive for Supply chain, this could be a top down approach to help solve underlying problems (2nd row squeaks and motor, cheap panel fitment, etc) They have also mentioned in interviews they are replacing the cup holders. Perhaps better icons on the touch pads to make it more intuitive. Also, my SA did hint a couple months ago that waiting for the Lunar Titanium would most likely allow time for improvements not just software but for hardware.

Or maybe its re-tooling for Gravity-X :) Considering there's new 3-row EV competitors announced recently (i.e. Toyota Highlander EV), Lucid needs to keep innovating.

Hopefully this new exec is as hands on with solving problems like Emad is. It's amazing how having the right leadership can significantly accelerate progress. As someone who works in a large software company, I see this all the time (both good and bad).

Time will tell. Hopefully all good things.

When the Lucid Service Van was here last week, I mentioned the seat motor noise to him. He took a tool and adjusted the seat motor speed. When he was done the seat moved faster and it made less of the "labored motor" noise. It's not perfect, but much better. He adjusted and tested a few times to get it just right. He said if you crank it up too fast you get other problems. FYI

Notch has no more info than what we have so he's just posting based on the same rumors and the little info Lucid has shared thus far. I don't think this has anything at all to do with a motor redesign but just a fix for the squeak because what Nick Twork posted was:

I think it's impossible for us to know what they're doing. It could easily be just stopping in order to perform maintenance on equipment. It could be pausing to reconfigure some aspect of manufacturing that is being done in a way that produces elevated failure in the field. It could be a non-trivial part upgrade. I think it's difficult to overestimate just how much Lucid learns from manufacturing the thousands of initial Gravities, and the range of potential changes they could be making is enormous. We already have evidence of quite a few different parts having gone through hardware revisions, and it seems clear that most of those changes have not required a big enough manufacturing change to need to stop and reconfigure some part of the line.
