Hi y'all,

One of my aluminum bar adhesive gave up and of course removing a bag from the trunk twisted it a bit. I do have a Service Center appointment for my yearly checkup + ccc upgrade late august, but I'm looking for a temporary fix meanwhile, as we'll be on the road for the next three weeks.

What would be the best way to flatten it back, and what kind of adhesive would you recommend?

You'd want a contact or pressure-sensitive adhesive that would be easy for the service center to remove - and we'd only be guessing what adhesive remover they'd have on hand. It might be best to just finish peeling it off, and leave it that way until your visit.

Aside from that, typically I'd use a thin automotive-grade double-sided adhesive tape like something from 3M's VHB series.

Yeah, I was actually considering removing it all together, but my OCDs were like "no way it won't be symetrical anymore" 🤣

Glad to see they made these full metal on the Gravity. Hopefully 🤞 they add it as an update to Air eventually.

To me this is the only part of the car that I find not as luxurious as it should be.

Peter had a goal of not having luggage wheels scrape the rear paint on the way out of the trunk area.

Honestly? A piece of clear packing tape might do the job for now. It’s just temporary anyway. That’s what I’d probably do.

Take a hair dryer, heat it up and push that piece back down. Put a weight on that section.
