Took 2K mile road trip, now looking to sell Gravity

Mhh not sore, i was driving demo car last weak was base touring only.. so only back camera which sucked.
you cannot upgrade to dd pro right?
That's my understanding, that Pro requires more sensors (hardware), so can't be a simple software upgrade. Premium can tho.

I drove down from the SF Bay Area to LA on Sunday. We've got a Grand Touring model with Dream Drive 2 Premium. We've upgraded to version 3.6.0 but hadn't driven the car much. About half way through the trip the adaptive cruise control would occasionally wig out on me when I would accelerate to pass someone. I would then have to reset the cruise control. One thing I noticed going down i5 is that the car seemed to be able to drive hands free which was quite the surprise as I thought the hands free needed Dream Drive 2 Pro. I didn't take my hands off the wheel for too long but would just life my hands off for about 30 second and the steering wheel would twitch back and forth minutely so I figured the car must be doing some type of hands free driving.

So is Dream Drive 2 Premium now able to do limited hands free driving?

I've only got DD2 standard and I still get lane centering where I can temporarily take my hands off. It'll just nag me to put my hands back on after a little bit of time (20-30 seconds maybe?).

I rarely activate it because I don't really like self-steering for more than for a momentary purpose (like blowing my nose or opening a can of pop). But I did test it a few days ago just to see. I have my steering wheel button configured to do ACC on 1st press and LCA on 2nd since I rarely use LCA.

If I have to do an overnight drive where I might start getting drowsy, I'll turn LCA on just as a safety measure. But still keep my hands on the wheel.

Native Google Maps also does a nice job of this on our other EV.
If Lucid would just pass the car's current charge level to Android Auto and Carplay, we'd have a passable solution for road trip navigation.
The native Lucid navigation does a nice job - have you given it a chance?

I’ve used it on multiple road trips, including a 2k round trip. Turn on range spider (default is off) and toggle charging stations. The estimated SOC is very good.

I did use 3rd party apps (ABRP, PlugShare) to see amenities at charging stations, but with Google Maps Places integrated into the navigation with 3.6.0, I’m hoping I can ditch 3rd party apps entirely. You can even see real-time data for in-use vs total charging stalls.

I know some have complained about Lucid/HERE routing, but I’ve found it works pretty well. I’ve had Lucid plus another map app running for the last 6 months whenever I drive, rotating between Google/Apple/Waze. I usually follow Lucid. Lucid is closer to Waze than Google or Apple.

None of the mapping apps are perfect, and there are times when the Lucid route is better than Google/Apple/Waze, as well as times when it is worse. I’ll look at the route differences and make a judgement call. For the most part, they are equivalent - not worth using CarPlay. The native map display is so much better, along with HUD turn integration.

DD2Premium has hands-on auto lane centering (steering wheel symbol). DD2Pro has hands-free driving (steering wheel with hands symbol).

Hands-on will let you take your hands off for a period before nagging you to hold the steering wheel.

Yes, I've been using Lucid's native maps for nearly four years, first in an Air, now in Gravity. Gravity's is pretty useful now that it has Google's places database.
If it also had police/accident notifications and reporting, better voice directions, and a more pleasant voice in general, I'd generally like it.
Otherwise Lucid's native UX is much nicer than using Android Auto or Carplay, at least until Google ships their revised maps graphics later this year.

Quick update on offers
Only one credible offer so far from "MYEV" @ $81K
A couple have said they don't know how to value it and 2 are still Working on quotes.
Ill update if a I get more

I did briefly list it on Autotrader today at $98k and got 5 people interested, but all of them seem like BS so I pulled the ad (I hate selling cars).

Besides, something else maybe bruin'..lol
Hint: I drove it around town yesterday.... stay tuned

Worse part about buying cars is having to sell them one day.

So what they’re doing is seeing what they can get for it if they can’t sell it. If MyEv is offering you 81k, that means they probably have an agreed site-unseen sale to another dealer for around 90k. Thats why when you trade in a car, you never see it on the lot. They usually have it sold before they buy it off you.

Are there any selling services there? Here there’s a great dealer that will either give you cash on the spot, or, sell it for you. Whatever they get over “private party retail” is what they make on it. You will almost certainly get the most money with something like that.

Im not sure about the selling service like you have??? I will look into that.
Thanks

Just wanted to chime in ... We're in the middle of a road trip from Dallas area through multiple spots in Colorado with our GGT. Has the option of taking our X (free supercharging and fsd were pulling me that way), but ultimately decided to take the lucid to have more flexibility on the range/stops. Super glad we did! Besides the range, with 3 kids and a dog, the room and comfort is just much better. The fit and finish also 1000x better than the X (had multiple service appointments to get rid of rattles, but they would inevitably return). Going on about 15k miles on the gravity now and is still as quiet as ever.

As far as the maps, I was one that was waiting on Android auto to be available and was hoping I could run both at the same time. Was disappointed when I couldn't and just ended up using the native maps more to take advantage of the 2 screens. Funny things happened, as I continued to use it, I kinda started liking it more than Google maps. 3.6 was also a game changer with the Google search integration. I do still double check to see if better options/routes available with Google maps, but have been more satisfied with Here recently. The one exception may be in city driving during peak time traffic, where Google just seems to have better traffic data.

Regarding fsd vs dream drive, it's not really a comparison. Dream drive reminds me auto pilot from 2019 or so. It's very helpful for highway driving and just good enough to be dangerous by making you think it's better than it is. Ultimately, it's great for long road trips with my hands on the wheel, but fsd is really unbeatable right now. Having said that, given how well lucid does everything else, I'm willing to wait on their self driving updates as I did with Tesla.

Overall, I'm very glad I brought the lucid on this trip instead of the Tesla. The headlights are amazing, especially with 3.6 and the range and flexibility it gives us with charging stops has been wonderful. I know with the model x I would have been stopping quite a bit more, especially with the wind/altitude (also cause I would have probably stuck to only Tesla chargers for the free charging 😂).

So while I understand the road trips are very different on the east coast, through Texas, New Mexico and Colorado, it has been fantastic!

100% agree with the comparison and road trip experience. I also have a Model X with free charging. Its road tripping days are over - I’d have a mutiny if I suggested taking the X over the Gravity.

Why not selling the car to some lucidowners forum user?
What is the exact spec of your car?

Carvana.com is one selling service you could look into (I used vroom.com a few years ago, but they went out of business about a year after my sale). Another is CARMAX.

My guess is that both services will have a tough time coming up with a valuation on your car, since there are so few Gravity(s) on the road.

You could also list your car on carsandbids.com, a site founded by auto YouTuber, Doug Demuro.

They are useful band-aids. Native google navigation, like we have in our other EV, is a better solution due to comprehensive EV route planning.
I agree 1000%. On a short 2-hour roadtrip last weekend, Google Maps in Apple CarPlay crashed three times. And before others pile on, my iPhone is completely up to date. As is the car. And the iPhone was hard wired so not relying on wifi or bluetooth. The statement that CarPlay or AA fixes all problems is simply not true.

Please post it in the marketplace, with photos and a price (it can be best offer, but I’d suggest a price if you don’t want lowball offers)

I think you need to define what "fun to drive" means for you... if youre talking actual driving dynamics, ride quality, and handling then the lucid blows Tesla out of the water and 90% of reviews will confirm that fact. If youre talking Software and Navigation mechanics then youre probably right. But dont confuse the 2
