First, use a modern rolling-code opener. If your garage door has breakable windows, remove the short rope and handle from the opener's emergency release.
Chamberlain's MyQ phone app works well for daily tasks. It is a cloud-based way to monitor and open your doors, so it does introduce an attack surface. Though not one that thieves have been using.

Newer garage door openers also come with a built-in camera for remote monitoring and allow for delivery access, which I never use.
