Is anyone doing the Tesla member pricing plan w their Gravity? After paying $50 yesterday to go from 80 miles to ~420 miles at a Tesla SC, I signed up for the plan to get Tesla rates which are a good bit cheaper. It's $12.99 a month and would have paid for itself on my first full charge.

Downside is I can't just plug & charge...but it's not very hard to go through Tesla's app to tell which charger and get started. Hopefully Lucid adds this plan so we can plug & charge without the Tesla app at some point.

Anyone been using this and had any issues or any things I should know about?

I know Lucid was intending on offering the cheaper rates through plug and charge for EA at least. I think I read somewhere that Tesla won’t allow it for plug and charge so you’d need to use the Tesla app for the foreseeable future. Could be wrong on that but wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a “Tesla perk” only.

Yeah, and makes sense to add as many incentives to Tesla owners. I'm just glad they're offering this plan since I split time between my house w a home charger and other places where I have to use SC's. For me, I think the discounted prices on the Tesla plan will save me money. At least they let you cancel any time, so I'll try it.

I signed up for it after my first Supercharger visit with our Gravity. Given the fairly steep discount on charge fees (they vary by station and can generally run in the 20-25% range), I think the $12.99 a month is a real bargain. We do most charging at home and don't road trip all that often, but Superchargers are our default choice on the road mostly because of the four miserable years of dealing with Electrify America.

A friend suggested we should just sign up before a road trip and then cancel until the next road trip, but I'd be surprised if Tesla allowed this beyond a couple of attempts. I wouldn't if I were them.

Forgoing the plug-and-charge feature and having to use the Tesla app to initiate the charge is only a minor bother, as the app is quick and reliable. Lucid said early on that they were working with Tesla to allow discount plan subscribers to have plug-and-charge, but it's been crickets on that score for the past few months.

They have been saying this for a while. It ain't happening is my guess

I have done this three times already. Easy peasy.

If they detect a pattern and decide to stop it, maybe they'll at least give you a warning? It's what they did in the early days of free lifetime charging when they detected a person repeatedly using a Supercharger near their home address, saying that the free Supercharging was meant to facilitate road tripping, not to be a substitute for home charging where available.

It’s specifically no contract, and pretty much guarantees you’ll use superchargers for the month. I’d be surprised if they cared.

I only use Superchargers on a road trip, which means some months I don't use them at all.

The guarantee that I'll use Superchargers when I need DC fast charging has nothing to do with the charge fees or even the charge speed. It is the atrocious experience I had with Electrify America for the past four years and the so-so luck I had with ChargePoint.

Yeah, that’s true for you. Given that I’ve had about an equal number of EA and supercharger issues (2 and 2, iirc), I have no such brand loyalty. If I lived where you lived I would also probably feel differently.

My point was just that by paying for the membership Tesla knows it’s more likely to get all your charging coin for the month - even if EA happened to be amazing.

And yeah, chargepoint sucks. :p

. . . I have no such brand loyalty.

I understand the point, but it's odd to hear the term brand loyalty associated with me when it comes to Tesla. Having owned Teslas for 10 years, I came to strongly dislike the brand for many reasons. That's why we have become an all-Lucid household.

But I have to give the devil his due. In those 10 years I almost never had a problem with Tesla Supercharging except occasional long waiting lines, whereas I held my breath every time I took an exit for an EA station. That's the only reason it is now our default choice for road trip charging.
