Target $0

Hmm…after reading through this thread I’m considering having my broker pick up a few shares of LCID. The risks are pretty well covered here except for the fact that the Saudi Wealth Fund is tightening the belt especially with what’s going on in Hormuz and the mile long ‘desert boondoggle’ that’s just been shut down.

Then again Lucid has manufacturing set up in Saudi Arabia and they are trying hard to transition away from an oil based economy. So Lucid could be solid there with continued backing from the Fund especially with vehicles on order. Also, SA presents an easier entry into European/Asian markets.

Personally I was considering trading my Air Touring for a Cosmos once they reach production but not a big fan of subscription services. The big question I have is, considering my AT already has Dream Drive do I really want to pay $199 a month so I can nod off at the wheel? Besides, just reserved a Slate Pickup for my wife since she freaks whenever we’re hands free driving down the freeway. C’est la vie. (Sorry about wandering away from the thread there at the end but give an old man some license.)

I find the Saudi connection the primary driver for my bullishness. It’s not a get rich quick and get out. It’s a long term, at least 5 year hold. Buy some here, forget about it for a few years. Lucid may have 1/10th market cap of Rivian, but, they already established themselves in Europe and the Middle East and primed for exponential growth once midsize comes out. They have factories in 2 continents. Saudi to Europe/Asia shipment has massive cost benefits vs shipping from US. They will expand to right hand drive countries with the midsize which is being engineered for right and left hand drive- just a matter of moving steering wheel and pedals.

Though they have had plenty of hiccups, causing stock to crash, they are executing for the long haul.

Saudi Gov. has a commitment for 100k vehicles, primarily those that will be built in their Saudi factory. It wouldn’t look good if they bought those built in USA, hence the delay in purchasing. But, it’s coming!

Just my opinion. Didn't mean to be nasty. I think short sellers and nonsense is what drives the LCID stock price. I do not think the LCID stock price makes one iota of difference as to how good or bad the car is, or as to the longevity of Lucid. You are allowed to disagree; that's fine.

I do not think this thread will have any value, as there have been countless threads before it that have had an equivalent value.

But sure, chat away about the stock price.
It's worth noting that this is a thread in the LUCID INVESTORS CHAT. (Or at least it is now. Not sure if it started there or got moved.) That's the point of this section of the forum.

Although I know I've been guilty of replying to posts via What's New without double-checking which forum it's in first, so maybe that's what happened here. I've replied to threads with Gravity comments not realizing it was specific to Air a few times. Oops.

Keep in mind regarding the PIF, most of the purpose of "investment" is in growing resources within their own country. Look at their portfolio and you will find things like airports, etc.

Although one cannot totally rule out financial gain, but they are already seeing return in that they have tapped into US technology, engineering, and manufacturing on home soil. They may not perceive the stock price as a significant loss at all. Lucid is part of the Vision Portfolio.

Well, yeah, since the company would already be bankrupt now without it. 😎
This comment pops up often but it flawed. Atieva only became Lucid and build car with commitment of PIF. Without PIF Lucid wouldn't even exist, let alone bankrupt.

A (bankrupt) rose by any other name. 😎

There will be an inflection point where earnings lead to rise in market cap. Though Saudi are not primarily investing for stock appreciation, I’m sure that is one of the goals. Clearly evident in Napoli compensation package. They invested 10 billion. They could have given that money to attract established car makers to build factories in Saudi, but they didn’t.

Noted. Just to add on, apparently they are now negotiating with Hyundai for just such a factory.

If you have not already, you should visit the PIF web page. They are so profoundly flooded with money that the focus is mostly strategic, in my opinion. This does bear on Lucid investment futures indirectly. Personally I am pretty optimistic although I do not have a dog in this fight.

That's the plan for any startup... reach a significant revenue point to pay the bills before you run out of money. It's a race to see which comes first.

PIF is keeping them alive at this point. Just gotta hope they don't change their minds. Even though their strategy for supporting Lucid goes beyond simple financial gains, everyone has a "cut & run" point if it's looking like that "turn the corner" moment is gonna take too long and cost too much.

The race is on.

I never meant to imply it wasn’t allowed.

That doesn’t mean I can’t think the argument is a bad one. :)

@borski ain’t like that but he will fight you for sure. You gotta be ready to cite your sources.

New technology takes a lot of start up money and "time" - PIF isn't going anywhere. They knew what they were getting themselves into.

Electric cars are at the smart phone stage in 2010 and look how far we've come from then.

Q2 production and delivery numbers will be key. If they can string together a few positive announcements with an unveiling of Cosmos then the stock price will recover. My gut tells me that like every other major announcement, it will be accompanied by dilution or a reverse split. If Lucid can't keep their stock above $5 in the coming months, expect another RS prior to midsize launch.. I hope I'm wrong.

They have to dilute, once more. Or get creative and get debt from the Saudis. They could use capped where they dilute at higher prices.

PIF won’t back out. They have backed Lucid for almost a decade and spent 10 billion. They are just a couple of years away from profitability.

Hopefully. Of course, they had committed billions to the Liv Golf Tour, and The Line too before finally pulling the plug. But fingers crossed for Lucid. I've been accumulating shares on the way down.

LIV is different. It wasn’t creating the first major automobile manufacturing facility in the Middle East. Jobs for Saudi citizens.

It's down today along with the broader market because the strong jobs report suggests there will likely be a rate hike this year.
Technically, the stock went down because there was more sellers than buyers. What makes someone sell and someone else buy can be for zillions of reasons - the stock market isn’t that complex - it’s just that it is not predictable - just like people.

It’s a great place to work! Never a boring day!
