I have my wife over the EV hump but now her biggest gripe is the software and its unreliability when driving the kids around, doing daily tasks, apple play not connecting, etc. She says her Q7 just works, is reliable and does what it's supposed to. She's not wrong and I imagine she's not alone in her thinking.... Really hopeful for a smooth UX 3.0 rollout in the near future.

can you ask her why she needs apple play do daily tasks? android folks are doing fine without android play so... just saying.

as for the passive unlock, just disable passive lock and she'll never have to wait 2 sec to open the car door again!

okay, really though, I agree. you guys aren't alone!

I want the Gravity also, not necessarily her. She’s happy with the Q7. She’s saying she will switch to make me happy once the software is up to what she considers a Q7 standard.

I’ve had my AGT since UX 1.0 and I knew what I was signing up for. If the masses are going to buy in, it’s needs to be better. I wouldn’t trade mine for anything else out there, but the broad public who can afford one or two of the current lineup don’t agree with my, and presumably most of this board’s, views towards the current tech.

Honestly I drive the car because it’s comfortable and fun. Software and features are just nice to haves.

I’ve had my share of music not working or something won’t connect, I’m mad for a min, then listen to my tires screeching instead. Enjoy the car, not the screen.

Which is why I own the car. Just talking about my other half and how to get a second one in my garage. Imagine there are more who are closer to my wife’s camp than yours and mine, that’s all.

My wife uses CarPlay all the time - it launches as soon as she turns her car on. Any car without it is immediately scratched from her next new car list. A car that has it but it doesn’t work right is even worse than a car that doesn’t have it. Just because the Android folks are suffering (and hating it based on threads on here) doesn’t make it tolerable if you use an iPhone and it’s wonky.

The fact that we're even talking about these things proves his (and by extension, his wife's) point. Normal users won't tolerate stuff like this, it doesn't matter that there's a simple solution. This is what made Apple a success in the mobile space, and that concept should be emulated if Lucid wants ordinary people to use their products.

It's great that you don't care about that but for context clearly more people do than those who don't. I've had at least 6 people in my car who have seen the quirks the software does and no matter how much you try to brush them off the response has been "I'm not paying a premium to put up with little quirks as you put it". If you don't think this will affect Lucid's brand reputation and sales then more fool you.

Yes, as days pass by users buying a car on how it drives vs how the software and autonomy in the car are increasing exponentially. Lucid needs to read the market for a great share.

The is no question Lucid drives great but that % of people are reducing drastically day by day.

but has those 6 people driven the car? ;)

Agree with IRJ - love driving the car but I would not recommend this car to anyone I know, and my wife would get frustrated with all of the work arounds as well. Unless the Gravity software is much better, it will not sell well. key issues, carplay issues, volume issues, car not connecting in the app, profile switching as slow as rebooting a PC, voice recognition issues.....

Lucid should not have cheapened out on the hardware and mess up the keyfob.....you would think they would have looked at why Tesla was so successful.....ITS THE SOFTWARE! And I'm not talikng about FSD, Tesla software just works and very very responsive. No lag or disconnects.

But I'm optimistic they learned their lesson with the Gravity....

Tesla is the Cisco of the y2k. I’ve had both, Tesla is trash compared to Lucid. Tesla Infotainment is far ahead but their cars are horrible.

Going far off topic.

My wife also complains about the key fob passive unlock delay. she also says we shouldn’t have paid premium and these features don’t work.

At the same time, the kids and wife absolutely love the lucid, hands down, compared to Model S. I would never recommend any Tesla product to anyone.

The software is not an issue for me. I am a car guy, and this car rings my bell.
If it didn't have electric windows or an audio system I wouldn't care.
I've had a few cars that I just drove for the pure joy of driving.

Ring my bell Lucid.

I am MOSTLY there too. My 2025 AGT is a sublime driving car, and the software is “good enough” that the driving experience far outweighs the occasional software glitch. That said, my entry (phone or FOB) have been largely perfect so one major reported annoyance that folks have has been of no consequence to me.

My Dad, however, in his new 2025 AT has not been so fortunate. His car is a week old and headed back to KOP due to consistent issues with his phone not being able to function as a key. Go figure. Service from Lucid, as per my experiences, has been absolutely first rate and he (like me) is a car guy and is not at all concerned by this, BUT, many folks these days view cars more as electronics that happen to also provide transportation, rather than the other way around, and this kinds of software flakiness will likely be a serious bother for those with that mindset…especially at Lucid’s price point.

Yes, which is why I bought it and assume many others on the forum have, certainly those who did so in 22 and 23. My wife unfortunately prioritizes other features in a car (she’s terrified of the power it has in Sprint and doesn’t trust DDP at all). Thus, I’m hopeful UX 3.0 is a big leap ahead so that she, and the masses, can start experiencing the other Lucid attributes we all know and love.

I’m talking about the responsiveness, car wakes up immediately, less than a second. But agree, the no button philosophy with one screen is horrible and cheap.
