Steering Wheel Creaking?

After initially being resolved with a new steering wheel, my wheel has returned to creaking almost every time I turn it. I have a '23 Pure. My service tech has told me there is nothing more he can do until another update comes along, which is rather hard to believe if newer builds no longer have this problem.
They all have the problem. Some people just don’t notice it and claim it doesn’t exist. But given that all the HW revisions have the creak and people who have the issue face it over and over again, it just means some of us are more sensitive it the noise

Noticed this on my new 24 Touring and service fixed it quickly.
The service summary mentioned the following parts that were replaced.

1. SCREW, M15-1.5X25, 8.8 STEEL,
BUTTON HEAD, ZN CLEAR
48/96, 6-LOBE, DOG POINT

2. FELT TAPE FT 0900X PET

That's a really odd conclusion to make, given you've spent time inside how many Airs yourself, exactly?

You just know for sure that every single person on this forum has a creaky steering wheel, and many of us are what? Deaf?

Mine definitely creaks a teeny bit first thing in the morning, by the way. And then stops until it's been sitting for a while again. But I'm not about to assume that this means every single steering wheel in the fleet does this.

I’ve had 3 steering wheels. Other people have had 4 or more. We all have the same latest part number. I think it’s safe to assume they all creak to some degree

Video of a creaking noise that's developed. I have a service appointment for a few other things, so adding this to it, but has anyone else had this issue? 2023 Pure with about 4,500 miles is what I've got.
Lol…I’m on my third steering wheel

I’ve had 2. My first one creaked. My second one hasn’t. I know what it sounds like because, again, my first one creaked.

Not everyone’s steering wheel has a creak.

Put me in the ‘either I’m deaf or I don’t have a creaking steering wheel’ column. ;). I’m very sensitive to any noise that shouldn’t be there in virtually any car I’ve ever owned. Noises & rattles drive me nuts, just ask my wife when I go on a search & destroy mission for an unwelcome noise. I took care of the rear shelf noise in my first week of ownership.

The previous owner said he didn't hear anything about the steering wheel for the past two years, while i heard it creaking before leaving the parking lot for a quick test drive.

Resurrecting this thread, I’m getting a creaking sound near the steering wheel, most obvious when making turns, but I don’t think it is the steering wheel. I can turn the wheel sharply while not moving, back & forth, and I don’t hear the creaking. It appears the car must be moving and generally turning to hear the creak.

I thought someone had mentioned this noise was often associated with a fix applied to the steering column. Can anyone confirm that?

I had what sounds like the same issue. The mobile service tech came out and took apart the steering wheel column and put In some sort of spacers. It was resolved after that.

I have exactly this symptom.
I first heard it while hugely enjoying the super-twisty North Cascades Highway here in WA, last year, and every time since, monthly.
I believe it's coming from the plastic housing around the steering column, behind the wheel.
It's super-easy to reproduce moving or parked. Just grab the wheel and push laterally (sideways) on the wheel until you hear it.
I had a loaner GT that did exactly the same thing. I think all Lucid Air's do this.
My local (Seattle) service expert understood but had no fix. I've just accepted it. For now.
Your squeak might be different in nature, I don't know.

I had this same issue starting in about July or so. The awesome Lucid Millbrae service team (Christopher Robinson in this particular instance -- they're all great) took care of it in September by giving me an updated steering wheel, apparently their latest revision. That completely fixed the issue.

Did the tech drive the car prior to implementing the fix? I ask that because I don’t think the creak can be heard or duplicated while the car is motionless.

That was one of my first thoughts, the plastic shroud around the steering wheel. Unfortunately I couldn’t duplicate the creak no matter how much I pressed and applied torque to the wheel. I’ve got about 12,000 miles on the car and it only started in the last few days. It’s also gotten colder and I wonder if colder temperatures aren’t exacerbating the issue.

Well it wasn’t what I was expecting, but I think I solved the issue. The creak was coming from the seat. I was able to duplicate the noise by rocking laterally in my seat while the car was parked. So all I did was move the seat a small bit rearward and the creak totally disappeared.

I’m not sure if it had anything to do with installation of new PurLuxe material for the seat back a couple of weeks ago. Regardless, silence has been restored to the interior. :)

The steering wheel in my GT creaks, but not audibly. I would feel the clicking sound just like when you press down on a nail clipper.
This has been present since I got the brand new car in Dec 2022.
Service has looked at this 3, 4 times and replaced the steering wheel once.
The car was in service just this last week and the technician said he didn't detect any thing.
Additionally, there is a lot of wind noise. The tech and I did a test drive, and when I pointed out the noise, he said that was the wind blowing.
Yes, the wind was blowing, but we're not riding a motorcycle here.
This tech used to work in a Toyota dealership and just moved to Lucid a year ago. I'm wondering if he's applying the standards and expectations from his old employment at Lucid.
I've always been very effusive about our SC. Always gave them 6 stars.
But I'm on the fence right now about the survey they just sent me.
Driving on this same road, I didn't hear the wind noise in the Lucid loaner or my EQS.
I'm kind of tired of this persistent clicking, too --the loaner's steering was smooth like butter.
Maybe it's not the steering wheel, but a sound transmitted from elsewhere?
Any troubleshooting help is appreciated.

The steering wheel creak is a well known problem and people have had multiple wheels replaced. I had mine looked at 2 or 3 times and I believe they eventually replaced it and I haven’t had an issue since.

The wind noise issue on the drivers side is also known but when I raised it they couldn’t hear it so was left. Tbh though, I haven’t heard it in a very long time.

Your best bet is if it’s easy to replicate the issues then do a drive along with the tech to point them out or raise your concerns to the Service Center Manager or Regional Manager.

Thanks.
The SC Manager did call me Friday but I couldn't take his call.
Will connect with him on Monday.
Regarding the wind noise, it's lately become stereo because I can hear from both sides of the car.

Reviewing the old service invoices, I saw a note from Lucid that "aftermarket wrap exacerbates wind noise."
I never knew that ppf on the car would do this.

Interesting. Mine has PPF on it.
