Lucid Air Grand Touring
I am a new Lucid owner having come from Tesla. My wife and I have owned 9 Teslas, starting from 2012, but we decided to switch after Musk took over and decimated the Federal Government. I like my Luci Air Grand Touring, but I have two gripes. The first is that the navigation cannot be shown only on the lower display screen. I'd really like to be able to see navigation on the lower screen and entertainment on the upper screen. The second is that I like driving in Swift mode, but the car reverts to Smooth every time the car turns off. I can't understand why I can't choose to keep it in Swift so I don't have to switch it every time I get into the car.

Both of these are explained elsewhere in the forum. Please search it in the future.

But:
1) splitting the apps between screens is a feature in gravity but doesn’t exist in air yet
2) you can blame the EPA for the driving mode defaulting to Smooth, as their rule is the range is calculated only for the default driving mode when the car is started.

This is perhaps the most requested feature / software update in this forum. It would be nice if they are able to do it. I highly doubt it.

I am honestly confused why it wasn't something to begin with. Multi tasking or having multiple things with all the screens available would've been my first use case.

The idea was that the pilot panel was for pulling down a more detailed view, more options, etc - that’s why you can swipe the UI up and down from the top screen.

It didn’t work out; I agree. But it wasn’t without intention.

I thought I wanted multi-tasking, too, but since the 'next turn' info shows up on the cockpit display while the center panel is tied up with the music display, I don't really worry about it any more. My typical use case is to start nav mode, get on the road, then go to music mode, get the tunes going, then back to full time nav mode. Or, if I don't need nav mode immediately at the start of the drive, I'll start with music mode, then transition to nav.

I have found zero use cases where I need to be in music AND nav mode simultaneously for any length of time. So, for all the work that is going to go into the multi-tasking mode, and as attractive as the idea initially seemed to be, it's not something I'd be regularly using. Dual screen nav is life for me.

For those who want access to music mode for long periods of time...what is it you're actively doing or consuming from the music mode after you've selected the track(s) you want to hear?

I used the dual mode (navigation and entertainment) in all of my Teslas since 2012, and I can tell you that it is something that I used on an every day basis. As I drive, I change music/news stations a lot. I rarely select one station and just listen to the same station for the entire drive. I also like to see the navigation screen as I drive. One reason is that I like to see what streets are available to me as alternate routes. For example, if I have to make a right turn on a major street that is backed up with traffic, it is nice to be able to see with a quick glance that I can avoid the backup of cars by making a right turn on a side street, then left on the next side street and then right on the major street. If I had a dual display, I could see the streets on a very quick glance, instead of having to go through the process of switching the entire display from entertainment to navigation.

Agreed. Lucid is highly aware of this. Gravity's operation is much better, and I hope that Lucid ports some of Gravity's UX changes back to the Air eventually.

I do want both nav and music visible. Sometimes I am using another source for nav, so that means ApplePay and music. Having turn-by-turn or now-playing show often helps with this. But I have found that when I am most likely to want to look at the info is while waiting at a traffic light, when the turn camera covers the additional info. It seems like that wouldn't come up all that often, but I think at least once on every drive that happens to me.

Ahh, I see the difference. You're ROUTINELY accessing functions on the music screen. I generally pick an album on Tidal and that's it for the next 30-60 minutes. Big difference, I can see why you need it, then.

The good news is that multi-tasking was in the software roadmap that was presented a while back. Hopefully they'll get there, especially given that things are apparently better in Gravity already.
