Last night we had a nice family drive to the city for dinner. After getting back to the car and getting inside, screens lit up, music resumed, the usual "not detecting the key" message pops up, which I learned to ignore by now. However, this time it won't go into drive. No big deal, I expertly execute hard 30 seconds Alt-Ctrl-Del sequence, car reboots, but still not getting into drive mode. This is new to me, but I remember fellow forum members describing this issue, so I pull the battery cover on my keyfob, pull the battery, hold unlock key while popping the battery back in, and we drive home laughing it off like nothing happened.
Can you imagine someone less technical, not reading this forum every day, not knowing the "rain dance" rituals needed to get the $120k car moving again, late at night in a parking garage in the city with their family in tow, frantically calling roadside assistance or Uber to get home?
I'm still somewhat OK with being Lucid's guinea pig, having this forum to support each other, but this is not an OK behavior of a car company putting their customers into such situations without a warning. I think this deserves an NHTSA investigation, possible recall, and a serious reputational black eye, so people in charge can start taking it more seriously.
BTW, I called Lucid Customer Service 2 days ago and got a case number for my DreamDrive not working. Was promised a call back, but so far no one called.
