Maybe a stupid question, but If I have the RangeXchange Charging - NACS Adapter with the Lucid 40A Mobile Charging Cable, can I charge my wife's Tesla with my Lucid Air? Or that set up is not compatible with Tesla and it only works for charging Gravity?

Yep! You can, you just need the Tesla adapter that most likely came with your wife’s car.

If I'm understanding correctly, you're asking if you can use the Lucid NACS RangeXchange adapter to charge FROM the Air TO the Tesla. I doubt this will work, but if you had both male-to-female and female-to-male J1772 to NACS adapters it might.

The RangeXchange adapter is supposed to interface with the Lucid as the source, and then the normal J1772 charging end interfaces with the recipient. Can confirm this works with a Tesla or other NACS equipped vehicle using a female-to-male J1772 to NACS adapter, but I'm guessing the NACS RangeXchange adapter only works for Gravity. Would be a fun experiment!

Awesome, but why do I need a tesla adaptor if the RangeXchange Charging adaptor is the NACS one? Can't I just plug that in straight to tesla NACS Charging port?

Do I dare test it out going from Lucid Air to my wife's Tesla Y? Am I going to blow up or melt down something?? I figured it was meant for sharing charging with Gravity but was wondering if it would work with Tesla too. I'm probably too chicken to just plug it into Tesla Y and see what happens..

The RangeXchange is designed to interface with the donor Lucid vehicle. There's a J1772 version for Air and a NACS version for Gravity. As far as I'm aware you can't purchase a NACS equipped 40A mobile charging kit from Lucid, but maybe Gravity comes with one?

In your case, you'd want the J1772 RangeXchange adapter, and then a female-to-male J1772 to NACS adapter to be able to charge your Tesla off the Air. Hopefully that makes sense!

If you plugged the NACS RangeXchange adapter into the Tesla and the other end of the mobile charging kit into the Lucid nothing at all should happen, since this would be asking the Tesla to provide energy to the Lucid, which the Tesla doesn't support.

To do the opposite you'd need appropriate adapters at each end of the mobile charging kit + RangeXchange setup. Assuming you're using official OEM or other appropriate adapters it shouldn't risk harming anything, I'm just not sure if it would work.

Ah, I had the connections backwards. So then I need the J1772 RangeXchange cable with NACS version of the mobile charging kit. Seems like I can test that out and worst case no charging into Telsa. I might order the NACS mobile charging kit to test it out.

Bit tangent question, but would NACS version of the Lucid Mobile Charging kit (presumably for Gravity) also work for charging Tesla directly?

I don't think there's a NACS equipped mobile charging kit available from Lucid yet. You can just stick a J1772 to NACS adapter on the current J1772 version and it works fine, though! If you dont already have a female-to-male J1772 to NACS adapter you should be able to get one easily from your local Tesla location.

I *think* Gravity owners are just provided with a J1772 to NACS adapter for AC charging, a CCS to NACS adapter for DC charging, and the standard J1772 mobile charging kit. Hopefully a kind Gravity owner can chime in and maybe even try out their mobile charging kit + adapter to AC charge another NACS equipped vehicle. 😁

Also, you need to be sure you have the current the mobile charging kit to be able to use the RangeXchange feature. The kits included with 2022-2024 model year Airs are NOT V2V capable and you'll need to purchase the newer V2 mobile charging kit.

Check the back of the charger for the range X-change logo

I see NACS mobile charging kit in lucid online shop! Might order it to see if it works with Tesla Y

no, there is NACS version of the mobile charging kit now for 650

Ah, there it is! Apparently I'm blind and just wasn't seeing it. 🤦‍♂️
I think you should be able to use this to charge your Tesla from a wall plug, as well use with the J1772 RangeXchange adapter to charge the Tesla from your Air.

You get the NACS mobile kit with the Gravity DE. I could attempt to rangexchange my gravity into my Air...
