@hmp10 posted about the radar install process on his Gravity. I'm hoping to receive my GGT in November, and have started considering whether I want to get a radar/laser detector installed. His photos of the process lead me to conclude that I wouldn't trust a random installer to do the job. Has anyone been through the process in the SF area, and have an installer they can recommend?

I don't have any recommendation beyond Google reviews, but Custom Mobile Electronics in Novato is the only authorized Bay Area installer for Uniden detectors. Google gives them good marks, and that's all I know.

Probably not much interest to the Bay Area readers, but Unique Sounds in Carson City NV has quite a lot of glowing reviews. And I wouldn't be surprised if they're also cheaper than anyone in the Bay Area.

They haven't touched a Gravity yet, but it will be *way* easier than the Air, and they did exceptionally with that.

Ha! @borski - I was at Sound Innovations few weeks back and I am pretty sure it was your Air I saw parked at his shop. I am working with German to get some camera mods done for my company car to show at CES. German is awesome to work with.
 
I've worked with Ernesto at sound innovations before on my Mustang Mach E and put in a stinger system. The craftsmanship regarding installation was immaculate and besides some early glitches that were not attributable to sound Innovations, and were handled very professionally by Stinger and Ernesto. Since then the system works very well after three-years in the vehicle.

It's funny, I just reached out to Ernesto today regarding my gravity DE and what options could be possible. He replied that he was receiving a gravity dream coming in a week from Monday for audio. Then, he can evaluate it and give some ideas then if it's gonna be a hassle or silky smooth. The shop likes the stinger program, and it has been within 90% accurate when compared to all my other previous units. The laser jammer is pretty stinking slick and very unobtrusive, and it has saved my bacon twice so far and three years. ~ $8K for the Mustang Mach E GT.

PS- this shop is working with the top 1% of go-faster precisely engineered vehicles, and has done so forthe years I've known about them: many of the vehicles I've seen in the bays have been 2x3 times the cost of the LGDE, says something to me.

Can’t speak to audio, but radar/laser will be many orders of magnitude easier than the Air. Aside from drilling the holes for the fiber lasers (or building a housing for them/screen) it will not be difficult. When @hmp10 got his installed (in FL) they didn’t even need to take off the bumper. They just took out the frunk liner.

The Air is a massive pain because there is basically no room behind the front bumper for *anything*. The rear is trivial.
 
New AIR Touring owner here. So evidently there is a conflict with Dream Drive Pro and Escort's built in system. Something called the paradox sensor, which according to AI does not exist. I suspect the LIDAR and Escort laser system does not play well together. Both work in the very narrow spectrum of 903-905 nm. The pulses are different and some laser detection systems may be able to differentiate police laser vs LIDAR. If you remove the bumper the dream drive system has to go back to Lucid for to be recalibrated (more added cost). At least on my car there is a windshield cut out that will allow a radar detector to function normally. I will go this route and filter out laser detection, which is not optimal. If anyone has another solution, I would love to here it.
