My Lease is almost up on my 24 air GT, and I'm wondering. Should I buy a 26 or will there be something better in 27? I really want better Tesla charging? Because that's what's mostly used in my area. So I'm wondering if they'll update that to be better than 42kw.

Probably not, they will be concentrating on the midsize and troubleshooting Gravity software. I suspect they won't inprove Air much since sales only amount to 10k-12k/year.

Once Tesla V4 are available for us, we get full speeds i guess.

Lucid isn't likely to announce anything about a refresh until it's very close to being in production. It's not in a company's best interests.

I think there will very likely be a refresh including NACS and rear motor voltage boost for Tesla charging in 2027. Emad mentioned this in one of his videos with Tom Moloughney. Not sure what else may change but I would not be surprised to see some of the screen layout changes from Gravity to be incorporated also.

Mmmm….you think midsize will get the Gravity software? It would be cost effective to have all 3 vehicles running similar software vs having 2 or 3 different set ups.

I would be shocked if midsize and gravity aren’t running the same software platform.

The local studio salesperson (in Houston) mentioned a mid-2026 refresh is in the books for the Air with the new UX3.0 software and a refreshed interior, NACS port and some minor cosmetic upgrades.

Mid-2026 (for model year 2027) would be my expectation. NACS, if nothing else, since Lucid said all their cars would be NACS by 2027.

I would not be surprised to see some interior changes. I think the 2-tone may be going away, though I still love it. And maybe dark carpets, even for the lighter interiors? That one I would welcome. I love my Santa Cruz interior, but keeping the carpets clean is pretty challenging. You get tired of it by year 3, for sure.

The two-tone Tahoe is what pushed my partner away from getting the Air and getting the GGT instead. We're waiting for the refresh to put our order in for the Air

As far as computers go, fingers crossed. But I fear that one might take more effort than the team can afford. I would think Midsize would take all the time they're going to have.

Not design-wise, since I'm assuming Midsize is done on the design side. But software-wise. I strongly believe Midsize will use Gravity's software, but there's every chance the screen layouts might be slightly different, requiring at least some minor work to adapt. If they could "borrow" that same layout for Air, then maybe?

It really depends on how SUV-like a crossover Midsize is. Enough to where you are sitting up high, thus making a squircle / above view like Gravity? Or more like the lower seating position of Air?

So much to consider. But I have no doubt Air will eventually get Gravity's software. At least the base platform. There will always be minor differences between the models. But that's not a super-big challenge.

My new car purchase situation has gained urgency because my interim Volvo EX30 is now under recall (owners will be notified by NHTSA nect month) for battery fires caused by dendritic shorts. Wife said sell it now because she is not willing to risk us burning! She also said whatever you buy needs to be for the long term. Recently I have had a history buying a lot of cars. About 20 months ago I commissioned a custom built new/old Mini restomod monster in England and it is nearly complete. In the mean time I got impatient and bought a Porsche Boxster GTS because I love convertibles. My son says I'm having a midlife crisis which is great because that means I'll live to 110 or so!

So I narrowed down to Lucid Air because I now can mount a hitch for carrying bikes and found a shop to recover front seats because black + Houston is suicide in August. Then went to the Houston store and the sales rep told me to wait until summer because the 27's will have:
  • NACS -don't care
  • Fast Tesla charging - care somewhat but I really try to avoid Tesla because I despise Musk on so many levels
  • New software - can be OTA so I could buy now
  • Maybe new screens - hmmm, can be good or bad
  • Maybe Gravity type interior with matching front/back seat color + black carpet - definite want
  • Maybe massaging seats in Touring - definite want
So to placate the wife I have procured a 40' charging extension and am now charging the EX30 at the end of the driveway.

There doesn't seem to much evidence that the Lucid sales people get any more advance notice of what will be in the next model year update than anyone else does. Conventional wisdom here seems to be that one should take everything the sales people say with a big hunk of salt.

Why not buy a lightly used GT or higher to get the massaging seats, good interior options, and upgrade the chip to v2 ($1000) so that it covers the possible upgrades recently announced?

Don't want black front seats. Do want black carpet. Might be worthwhile to do those mods myself. I would actually prefer to recover the seats with cloth anyways. Big give would be the piss poor Tesla charging but the charging infrastructure is rapidly improving so it might not be too big of a deal.

I sure hope fixing the cupholder ergonomics is included in any refresh for the Air, as well as adding in some "Oh Shit" handles for the poor passengers that I fling around.

This is what I hope for most. I have another 10 months on my EQS 580 lease and really love the looks of the Air GT. I'd really like to see the software gremlins worked out and the Supercharger improvement like the Gravity can do. I don't need and SUV and, I know looks are subjective, think the Air as just really an elegant looking vehicle.

Actually software is almost 100% now, I upgraded my computer to the new version and its much much better after recent updates. I'm recommending Lucid vehicles now to friends and family. No concerns at all.

Go for it, you won't regret! Best sport sedan on the market, better than BMW M5!

The Air's software is pretty stable now. It's not as full-featured as Gravity's, but that will improve.
It's a great car. If the phone key is reliable for you, great. If not, carry the fob. It's slim and unobtrusive.
