This is such depressing news. When I spoke to my studio advisor in San Jose I specifically asked about music over usb and he told me it was possible. No CarPlay and no music over usb really sucks. This needs to be fixed asap.

Both will get addressed in due time.

My Volvo XC40 EV also uses AAOS as the user-interface OS, and interestingly has similar shortcomings for now as the Air's software. A limited number of streaming apps, playback glitches, currently no music over USB, occasional GPS/LTE outages. The car just updated to AAOS 11 which is promised to fix a few things but it's definitely a work in progress.
