Play Dolby Atmos tracks in Surreal Sound Pro

I am new to Tidal and Atmos — I got a 2 month trial when I purchased my AGT. The Tidal app native in the Lucid doesn’t seem to allow “searching” for a song or artist, like Spotify or Apple Music.

What am I missing?

You’re not missing anything. The Tidal app in the car is not very good at all. I use the mobile or desktop app to put together playlists or add albums and tracks to my collection. Then in the car they can easily be accessed. I think most people do something similar.

Yup. The music is great. The UX sucks.

Blame Tidal. It’s their app. Please email them to fix it. I have.

Thanks for the info. Yup, I emailed them. After about 10 emails back and forth explaining the issue and sending pictures of the screen, they told me that Lucid maintains the app and Tidal has nothing to do with it Lucid service hasn’t responded to my email.

That isn’t true. Tidal writes the app and Lucid pushes it, as far as I know. The other indicator of this is the settings look like standard Tidal settings for Android.

My question was raised to the highest level tech group (or so they said) at Tidal. Their response was clear — contact Lucid as they maintain the app

Here’s the response from Tidal

Hi Doug,

Thank you for your patience. This is the TIDAL Technical Support Team getting in touch.

Upon review of this matter with our Higher Support Team, we would like to confirm the following:

  • You will have to contact Lucid Support about this matter as they manage the TIDAL app integration in their cars.

We appreciate your understanding.

Best Regards,
Diego

The Tidal app on all platforms is lacking IMO. I have sent them feature requests in the past regarding finding Atmos content and never got anything meaningful back. Best thing to do that I have found is to find the content on another device and then add it to your collection... Even then finding content you know exists can be challenging.....

I tried Tidal for a few months and the pleasure of Atmos is countered by the poor UX of the app. Furthermore, the quality of the different Atmos albums is highly variable with some claiming to be such but no noticeable surround aspect to it. A few albums actually have a few songs in Atmos and others not (yes, I do realize that that’s no Tidal’s fault).
For the above reasons I have stuck with Qobuz and hardwired it through my iPhone to the CarPlay to get hi-res streaming (no Atmos alas). I have contacted Lucid about the recent audio upgrade which has introduced more bass but cause a significant sonic degradation. My FLAC files now sound more like mp3 ones. The upgrade has introduced a “roominess/surround” quality at the expense of sonic quality. The suggestion to alter the equalizer is not valid because the quality remains poor. You can’t take a hamburger and shape it to look like a prime NY strip steak and claim it to be one.

Fortunately, apparently, Lucid has gotten complaints from fellow audiophiles and are working on an update. 🤞🏽

They are actively working on this. It wasn’t a “one and done” update; there’s a spectacular team focused on audio full-time now.

Agreed; it isn’t purely linear (which would be dumb anyway), so you’ll end up with peaks where you don’t want them.
