Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

He called me a few hours ago as well, looks like we have the same DA.

He told me the same information as well, about 1-3 months, but saying only 2-4 weeks after VIN assigned, so they have definitely started to move faster than the original 6 weeks after VIN assignment, which is good progress and improvement

I suspect 'good fortune ' is on the side of [those of] us in the PHX, AZ market as many of those taking delivery here have had nothing but good things to say about the LUCID DA's in Scottsdale.
Hopefully that next discussion pertaining to your VIN comes sooner than later!

Finalized Lucid Touring. Quantum grey, Tahoe interior, 19” wheel, DDP, SS pro. Booked 4/1/21, finalized 11/10/22.
 
20" Aero lite's spotted via Reddit. I can't tell if the roof is glass or metal and the user didn't post any pictures of the badging. However, I'm pretty sure this is a Touring and not Pure.

Could easily be a GT with 20s. The 20s have been shipping on GTs for a while now.

No customer has a Touring yet.

I know I think. There's a 3rd picture that won't upload with what appears to be a metal roof and body color mirrors. Made me think a Touring is out there but not officially delivered.

So, the latest confirmed reservation is @Rchie, reserved October 13 and confirmed November 8. If they were sending them out at about 1000/week, they probably have on the order of 3000 Touring reservations. Wow, that is a pretty small slice of the 34k outstanding.

I think the issue is the IRS definition of a binding agreement.
A binding agreement according to the IRS has to have at least 5% of the price of the car as non-refundable deposit.
So in our case with the 1k deposit not meeting the 5% rule so they may not accept it as a binding agreement.

1000 a week really? 4k per month and 48k in 1year! Too good to be true. Are you sure about that run rate?

No, I meant they were inviting already-existing reservation holders to finalize their configuration at 1000/week supposedly. This would imply they have very roughly 3000 Touring reservations in total since they started.

Even 3000 would be very best case scenario. They released first batch on 26th Oct (I was invited on that day), I think second one was 4 days later that easily covered reservation holder till end of April 2022 (based on the confirmations I saw). Then few days later I saw reservation holder post June 1, 2022 getting invite to finalize the build.

June 1 2022 is very important. Post price bump, Touring value goes down drastically. Anybody in market for Touring now should be looking at used GT. Used GT is selling on discount with just little over premium compared to New Touring post price bump. And, then we have EV credit that became ether. My point is - reservation holder after June 1, 22 would be very very small to make any dent.

Then there are people like me holding Touring and Pure reservations. I'm double counted but clearly I'm not buying 2. These cars don't have premium that I can buy and sell (no tax in my state).

This is an excellent point. If the depth of the GT rear seat footwell is acceptable then why spend $127k on a new Touring when you could have a lightly used GT?

From what I've seen, other than the Blade, the "inserts" do pop out. The 19" look much better without them.
