New option packages for Air Touring & Air Pure raise questions

New on the Lucid configurator today are 2 packages for the Air Touring & Air Pure. One is the Dream Drive Pro and the other the Surreal Sound System. The sound system raises no questions in my mind, but the Dream Drive Pro list of features most certainly does.

Included in the Dream Drive Pro are 'features' such as:
* Blind spot monitoring with blind spot display
* Surround view monitor
* Lane departure protection
* Front & rear cross traffic detection
* Rear pedestrian collision protection
* Future ready hardware for semi-autonomous driving functionality with OTA updates

It's almost impossible for me to believe that these features, available on BEVs costing far less, and ICE/hybrid vehicles cost $25K-35K, would only be available on the Dream Drive Pro option and not standard. If Lucid is promoting these vehicles as among the safest on the road, then the above features should, most certainly, be standard.

Even the last feature I listed for semi-autonomous driving raises questions. Up to this point OTA updates were assumed to be part of any Lucid vehicle. Yet this feature can be construed as meaning OTA updates are only available with this package. Of course it can also be construed to mean that OTA updates are available for the semi-autonomous driving aspect of the package. I'm almost certain, based on logic, this is the case as opposed to overall OTA capability. Either way, clarification is needed.

I'm going to assume all of this is the result of some initial confusion with the newly posted packages. In my discussion this morning with Lucid, the advisor wasn't even aware these new packages had been posted. So he's trying to get some clarification on this as he did agree with my assessment.

Lucid does a terrible job of telling us what is "standard" included equipment/functions on Touring/Pure. All the info other than what is common across trim levels and HP only pertains to Dream and GT. What comes on Touring/Pure if I don't opt for Surreal Sound?

I think all they are doing is creating a label differentiating between Dream Drive L2 vs Dream Drive L3. So they came up with Dream Drive Pro to represent L3 capability. I think the Touring and Pure come with L2 Dream Drive (which hopefully has all those safety features other than L3 capability). So Touring/Pure will come with Dream Drive while Dream/GT come with Dream Drive Pro standard.

Lucid needs to update information on Touring and Pure

I think what you say makes all the sense in the world and was what the Lucid advisor thought (hoped) could be the explanation. However if it turns out that the only way to get those safety features, which should be standard, is by purchasing the L3 capability (for which I have zero interest in) some will likely cancel their reservation...myself included.

Adnillien also brings up a good point that's been raised in the past, when will Lucid start showing option pricing.

The website originally showed the Dream and Grand Touring as launching with Level 2 ADAS that would be updated to Level 3 over the air at a later date. The mention of over-the-air updates to Level 3 was not listed on the features of the Touring and Pure at that point. I took that to mean that the base Touring and Air will not be built with the full sensor suite, in particular the fairly expensive lidar unit. It seems that you can now get the hardware suite to allow updating to Level 3 as an extra-cost option on the Touring and Pure.

I agree regarding the full hardware suite for L3, which doesn't bother me in the least. However that still leaves open the question about all the safety features listed under the Dream Drive Pro package for the Pure & Air Touring and whether they are standard or only available with the that Dream Drive Pro package. For me that's the critical question that needs a definitive answer. Logic tells me that those safety features would be standard, but sometimes logic doesn't apply with these things.
