I’m not sure I understand how upgrading would get you the car sooner. Are they really not planning on delivering gray and silver before starting on the new variant in the summer? If that is the case, then it really is a silly email, but probably more a reflection of one DA and not the company.

Like calling DA liars about the problem with getting the color paint right
So someone is accusing the DAs about lying about paint problems? They never gave inaccurate information, just no information at all.

It won’t get there sooner, at least I hope they are not that delayed!

I have heard privately by others with Different DAs. The DAs have been instructed to reach out to customers waiting for their cars to see if they are interested in upgrading, so it is a corporate directive.

What accusations?
Heck, you just said "Lucid has been telling many of us for months that our VINs are imminent. It is just not proper communication." Is that calling a DA liars, accusations or what?

I did accuse my DA of the following:
Telling me delivery was going to track order/confirmation date.
Telling me my choice of color would not impact when the car would be produced/delivered.
Telling me I would get the car in 2-4 months.
And when not calling when that 4 month period was up with an update.

You know what my DA said when I brought those up? "Sorry, we were wrong, probably should not have made some of those statements and certain things have caused us some problems...." He did not ask me "if I was calling him a liar". There is a big difference between being wrong and knowingly telling a lie. Keeping quiet and not communicating at all is worse than being wrong, but not as bad as knowingly telling a lie, at least in my book.

I think it is very fair to call a DA (Lucid's representative) out when the information they have given is inaccurate or needs to be updated. That is their job. They are there to answer all of the customer's questions, not just those that are easy or convenient to answer, but the hard questions as well. They have a tough job as they may know things they are not allowed to pass on or they may not have the answers. We need to be civil and courteous with them, but it does not mean we don't deserve answers, especially when they contradict what they have already said.

I certainly am not accusing them of lying, but they have been wrong. The test of lying is not necessarily using hindsight as that will make everyone who has ever been wrong a liar. Have you ever been wrong?

whatever……..
“It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the—if he—if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not—that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement”

I have a Rivian on order and should have been driving it in February if their initial delivery estimates were accurate. At this point I’ll be lucky to have it in 2023. In this case I believe that they institutionally lied about delivery times in order to boost their IPO. After they went public they finally told the truth, which frustrated the majority of the people ordering.

The Lucid experience has been a breath of fresh air comparatively. I actually find “sorry, we were wrong” to be an acceptable answer. I’m so sick of bad behavior being blamed on supply chain issues on virtually everything these days.

I think that expecting perfection from any start up is guaranteed to cause frustration. I would recommend waiting a couple of years because if delivery times frustrate you, you will be really frustrated when the software doesn’t initially work as advertised. Just my 2 cents.

I do not expect perfection, but I do expect communication.

I think you might have misread the tone of my response. I was fine with how my DA responded and was not accusing him of lying, being wrong is one thing, lying is another.

To understand frustration with delivery however, one must understand why. I hope you are not saying that nobody who ordered grey or silver, no matter how long ago, should not be in the least bit frustrated. If so, you might want to go back and read why so it does not get rehashed again.

No, DE #1 looks to be a simple mistake. Looks like he ordered a Touring and upgraded recently. I edited my comment to remove the inquiry.

I'm pretty sure DE 1 went to a very large investor into Lucid's early days

My take on it.

They have issues getting the paint right on a couple of colors, they should be offering you a few bones for the inconvenience.

When I spoke with someone at Lucid, not the drones in the local store, I said look I want the high power car but I won't accept disco features (look good but are non functional) like a white carpet and white back seats.

So after they closed out the Dream (bad dream once you see the wear and tear on the interior from real world use) they cooked up this GT Performance version to suck up the money from the folks who want the power.

Yea, I told them early on I would like a DE, but only if they could put Mojave interior in it. I did not want that "white" interior no matter what came with it. I am not sure though that I need the power at that expense (both $$$ and range) for the GT-P.

As far as getting a "few bones for the inconvenience", several of us have brought that up, but nothing to note as of yet. No surprise there, if anything is offered, it won't come until they deliver, or shortly before.

When I spoke with my DA regarding the new higher performance edition in the same conversation where he confirmed 4 Gray VINs out (sadly not mine) he stated that changing the order to the higher performance version would probably delay the car by another 4-6 months, so given how I had been waiting all this time it seemed like a bad choice. He also said that Lucid is releasing it for people that missed out on the Dream Edition but who really wanted the 1000 hp. He is pretty honest and we also both agreed that 800hp in any car is insane and it probably isn't worth 40k/4-6 mo delay for the power.

we were offered the Dream upgrade back in September and actually preferred the Santa Monica to the Santa Cruz. HOWEVER, not needing the extra horsepower and for only an extra 4 miles in the range version, was not worth the extra $30k for us. DEFINITELY NOT worth an extra 40k for the GT-P.

Is it possible that you could PM me the name of your DA that told you that? Several of us have DAs that are going to inform us when the first Grey cars have a VIN. None of those DAs have confirmed that to us. We have heard 2, 3 and 4 VINs through the forum here, but no verification of that. If we know where the information is coming from, several of us could get a quick confirmation. No one has reported receiving a VIN on the forum and we have people who reserved back in 2019. Those should be at the top of the list, but they are now being told mid to late April, delayed from early to mid April.

To each their own, I guess. I’m 4200mi in on my Santa Monica interior and love it. I just take care of it.

But I don’t yet have kids either, so 🤷‍♂️
