Waiting for it. Our Ford Flex will be needing to be replaced by then. Thinking of smaller and cheaper than Gravity - but will see. The Flex is an incredibly versatile hauler for both folks and things.
 
If you read their press release with Nvidia, you'll note this will be their most advanced vehicle in terms of autonomous driving (L4-ready hardware). Pretty exciting stuff.

This press release is entirely hot air. It's honestly a bit insulting to owners/buyers -- it's exactly the same as Musk saying that Tesla will have full autonomy next year (for the past six years and counting).

The Nvidia DRIVE AGX Thor platform is _already_ in the Gravity. I love my Gravity, but the ADAS is nothing special even though the sensor package and compute power are top of the line.

Lucid and Nvidia don't have the software, and have no timeline for the software, to deliver L3 (let alone L4) capabilities. Based on the overall Lucid software experience, they don't have a software engineering organization that will EVER be able to deliver this. It's just noise.

Buy a Lucid, but don't buy it on the promise of future high-level ADAS.
 
Sounds like you have a better understanding of this stuff than me, but isn't the whole point of this platform to help speed up development of autonomous systems? If so, isn't it encouraging that a relatively small company already has ADAS that can compete with many larger companies?

I think they definitely made the right HW choice -- or at least the safest for future-proofing. There's a lot more baseline platform capability and sensor information than most other vendors, including Tesla. All of the driving functionality really depends on software, though, and that's really, really hard (and mostly not coming from Nvidia).

Maybe the idea is to build a capable hardware platform and then partner with a 3rd party who is capable of making the software? It doesn’t have to be all in-house.

Yeah. I have no doubt this thing is going to look slick. That pic makes it look more hot hatch than crossover, which I would most definitely prefer.

There’s a good chance midsize will be my next Lucid. Give me a “Dream edition” of that, with max horsepower and fully loaded. I don’t particularly care about the off-roading version.

I am in the same boat. I will be in the market for a mid size in the next few years. If the reveal of the production vehicle is badass, I don't mind having a fully loaded Lucid mid size. Based on the excitement by the executive team, I have high hopes.

Ditto. Dream Edition: max horsepower, fully loaded, smaller size is the market for my next car.

Just saw this, and I think it looks really good overall! The side line as well as the "bulk" it appears to pack on the side reminds me a lot of the Fisker Ocean, in a good way. I'm not sure about the area above the Lucid logo (which for me is unnecessarily large and goes against the restrained luxury Lucid stands for), it does seem like it could turn into some sort of Lucid Bangle Butt (lots of similarities)! However, I do see the vision (especially since I love the E65), and I would rate this a 9.5/10 for design. Just need to hope it's priced well!

Same here. I'm looking more for a hatchback than a crossover, and I hope midsize fits the bill. It'll replace my current X1 and I'll run it till it falls apart.

My dream setup would be a Sapphire-equivalent/ tri-motor midsize hatch, but with standard leather, the smallest wheel size, and larger steel brakes (if possible).

Oh yeah I would buy that I think a lot of people would. I also think a lot of us just wanted a “better” Tesla. Real leather, thick glass, quiet and smooth. If they can make that in a Model Y sized package I think they’ll make a killing.

Could not agree more. “The Y, but upscale,” is a great mission statement for this model. Better looking. More fun to drive. More luxurious. Even if a bit more expensive. Great formula.

They’ll do the Rivian R2 competitor version, too. But the straight-up crossover will be the real moneymaker.
