“A better Tesla” is exactly what drew me to Lucid in the first place. I was sold on EVs by then. I just wanted better execution.
I hope we get that with the midsize in regard to software.
I'm begging on my knees for a Sapphire / Tri-motor midsize. I'm not even asking for carbon-ceramic brakes or wheels the size of dinner plates. Steel brakes, more tire wall (or just compatibility with the smallest wheel size and a winter tire setup), real torque vectoring, and less body roll are all I'm asking. It'll be my do-everything car that I will run until it falls apart.

Yeah that’s the problem when you start loading up the options you still have midsize but nowhere near price parity for that same size vehicle. Eg if all lucids are above 50-60k then you don’t gain marketImagine they could do it for under $100k
I keep hearing about these Chinese EVs, but I have yet to see one that doesn’t look as cheap and cheesy as their low price warrants.
A good friend of mine spends a fair amount of time in China involved in various manufacturing enterprises. He’s a real car guy that I trust his opinion. He feels that the Chinese are going to be the dominate force in all things EV. He sights massive government support, ability to improve & innovate at a speed that makes everyone else look like they’re standing still. Combine this with the idiotic position and policy changes of our current administration and it’s effectively over for us. This looks sufficiently luxurious…
Sadly, I agree. We have given up the lead in EVs that Tesla had gained, and while Lucid/Rivian/others are trying to get ahead, the fact is that China is investing in its EV manufacturing and we are simply not. That Lucid got funding from KSA and Rivian from VW is a solid indicator, but one just has to look at the current trajectory of energy funding and EV funding.
I agree with the general sentiment. But I don’t get any vibes from this car that say “luxury segment.” Like most Chinese EVs, it looks like a Model Y mated with an Audi or something.
It's not so much about being super technologically advanced, it's more their ability to mass produce them at affordable prices. That's why they flood the market in the countries where they sell them (LATAM, some countries in EU, and China of course).

Probably for the mid-size segment on the new platform. I love sedans but the problem is everyone at lower prices wants practicality and one-car solution which works out to Crossover/SUV form factor.
I read it as midsize won't have a sedan, but they'll keep the Air as the sedan in their portfolio
