They delivered the car in an enclosed trailer to Tucson. But it had to go, by trailer, to Scottsdale for some other issues (fan motor replacement, CPU module & misaligned rear trunk) and then they took it to Cactus to get the wrap done, before delivering the car back to Tucson.

As far as the door handles go: They mentioned that one of the handles was not responding as quickly and they decided to replace them all, just be be sure. I think the door wiring harness may have been related to that.

The facial recognition and distracted driver alert are both supposed to work. They have worked for me a few times when I first got the car, but after many software updates, stopped working. They know about all these issues and are addressing them one, by one. I should be getting the car back Wednesday or Thursday next week after the wiring harness gets in and they take it back to Cactus to reapply the wrap.

Possibly, you could stop at Cactus when they are reapplying the wrap and take a look at the tint/wrap. They accidentally put in 45% tint rather than 55% tint and offered to replace it, but I will see how I like the 45% and wait on replacing it. The window to go see it is rather tight. It may be Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning. If I get a chance, I will post here to let you know when the car will be there.
Oh for sure I can head to Cactus for when they're re-applying all that stuff to the car. Just give me a heads up as to when that's taking place. I'm about 15 minutes away. So I was just looking at our Tesla and we only did the full front wrap, and didn't find any other nicks and scratches anywhere else on the car. Does the full body wrap really help therefore?

I ended up just doing full front rear bumper and door edges but did the full car in ceramic.

Oooh door edges, I can see that being a good idea. But rear bumper why?
Accidental scrapes from things like shopping carts or when you are loading something into your trunk.

Along those lines, what about the bottom of all 4 doors? Or is that the door edges you were talking about?
Hmm, didn't think about the bottoms, only the edges where you might open into a wall or a door.

This was the first full wrap that I've done on a car. The front end protection is great, but I wanted something that would make the whole car shinny with an easy to take care of finish. In the past I would wrap all the front facing items and also the rear/side bumper. That has proven to be the most effective, although I would occasionally get some door dings. As a mater of fact, after I had the whole Lucid wrapped, I managed to open the rear door (2 times) against a workbench in the garage. Normally, this would have resulted in the door edge getting chipped. The wrap protected the door edge, although the wrap got gouged. It probably isn't repairable, but I may have to re-wrap that door.

Try using a hair dryer. Should self-heal with that or when it gets hotter in AZ, can just park it outside and it should self heal

It's supposed to self-heal without any heat or light, but since it has been whacked right on the door edge, it looks like the gap may be too large for self healing. I'll have Cactus look at it and see what they say. If they find that it should have self healed and it didn't, they will treaty it as a warranty repair.

My car should finish being wrapped today. It's at Cactus Auto Tint (Residential & Commercial Window Tinting - Scottsdale, AZ ...). They have applied some minimal window tinting to a Black Dream Edition previous. My car is the first one they are doing a complete wrap and total window tinting. After the work is done, Scottsdale Service is picking the car up (updating software) and then delivering the car, along with 4 21" Wheels/Tires back to me in Tucson.
I've used the PhotoSync IRD (Infrared Dispersion) on all the cars I've owned in the last 9 years. The IRD technology is great because it's effective without using a dark tint. You can see that in the links above. I have never used the Clear Guard PPF before, but considering how well the company's tint has worked, I thought I'd give it a try. It will also help that I won't need to ceramic coat it.
Hi Alex, I'm curious about how your tinting has gone since you're in AZ. In particular, how the tinting has gone for the windshield. You also mention that you've tinted all of your cars in the past...did you experience cracking in any of the windows? I took our AGT to a tinting specialist this week and he recommended that we did not tint the windshield because it could crack. Could it be because he is using 3M vs. Prestige Spectry PhotoSync IRD?

I have never had any glass cracking due to tinting on any of my cars, including the Lucid. I’ve heard “stories” of warnings about cracking, but don’t know anyone who has experienced this. If you are going to tint your windshield for heat rejection, I would recommend using PhotoSync, since it has the best heat rejection. It also helps in the winter by keeping heat in the car.

I also have PhotoSync for the roof glass and it helped in keeping the interior cool. Obviously no cracking so far. I will have to say, however, that you’ll probably get a crack in the windshield from a rock strike before you experience a crack from tinting.

Why do you prefer PhotoSync over 3M's Crystalline?

Why do you prefer PhotoSync over 3M's Crystalline?
PhotoSync has the best Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER) - even at 70% tint when compared to other brand tints. UV blocking is at 99.5% for all tint levels. IRR (Infrared Rejection) is at 98-99% for all tint levels.

Here is a link to the brochure which explains the various properties:

The takeaway is their Solar Adaptive Coating (SAC) which adjusts itself based on the wavelength of light.

From what my PPF guy told me about cracking, the issue is that because the film rejects so heat, the rejected heat largely sits on top of the glass and the increased temp directly above the glass actually causes the glass to break. I'm sure it's a rare case, but since I have not been bothered by the sun or the heat coming from the roof, I figured there was no need to chance it. I also won't tint the windshield because I am certain I'll continue to get cracks, and then you have to retint if you get a new windshield. Overall, tinting the side and rear keeps the inside pretty comfortable.

What I'm really looking forward to is driving this car during the 6 months of the year when the weather is perfect here. I can't wait to see what impact that has on range.
