Nervous new Lucid AT owner

It' been about 1 month since we switched from a long time Tesla Model S to our 1st Lucid AT.
I think the handling and luxury is far superior tan the Model S. However as many of the comments above has been uniformly about how far behind is the software and UI in comparison to Tesla. I got the DreamDrive Premium (I guess that what is called, or closest to FSD) But I don't dare to use it on the freeway even when there is very light traffic. It is incomprehensive to me that the screens can not multitask which is such an easy feature to upgrade, just a few of the complains about Lucid's software aspect. The only hope is that over the coming few months there will be upgrades to improve their UI and make it more user friendly.
As for the drive and handling, I really feel Lucid did a heck of a job compared to Model S. Since we first got our Model S, 12 years ago, total of 4 new cars, every return at the end of the lease, we find the quality of the new car has minor decrease in its components and luxury. However, with every new Model S, it was how much more user friendly and improved software and FSD system that kept impressing us. Overall we are quite happy so far with our Lucid, but still wish that it can step up and really give Tesla a run for its money and become more main stream.
I think the team at Lucid realizes that to be a true “Tesla Killer” they are going to have close the software gap a lot more. The underlying platform is soooo much better than what Tesla now offers with regard to build quality, luxury, materials, road feel, handling, etc. that if / when they implement a better UX (and the less expensive mid-sized vehicles) their sales will explode.

In the meantime, I have a lot more fun driving my Lucid AGT than I did driving my Tesla M3P (or any number of Model S’s I’ve driven over the years). But I also find most infotainment and electronic stuff largely unnecessary in a great car. I’m in it for the ride…

If Lucid wants to sell more than 10k cars a year they can’t settle for closing the gap - they have to exceed it on every level. Give people exactly zero reasons to choose Tesla over Lucid. I’m in sales and if I offer my clients products that are almost as good as (or even, just as good as) what they are currently using, but not demonstratively better, then I am just asking them to do more work and upset their apple cart for very little payoff. I need to give them a compelling reason to make the choice and show them why it is better in every way - otherwise people do what they have always done.

Lucid already offers much more than Tesla with regard to everything related to driving the car (range, tech, driving dynamics, road feel, etc.). My point was / is that they don’t necessarily have to surpass Tesla in the software department (but they must get much closer!) to be a very potent competitor. Folks who like gimmicks and gadgets will chose Tesla and folks who like to drive will chose Lucid. No company needs to be all things to all people in order to be very successful.

I understand that people have preferences and will choose based on their needs, either the drive or software interface. However, why can't a company strive to achieve leadership in both areas? I don't see them as mutually exclusive rather complementary to a much better driving experience. Since Lucid is already miles ahead of Tesla in car driving aspect, all they have to do is to improve their software to be close enough to Tesla and be the most dominant EV maker in the US.

Completely agree!!

Which is why Peter has said software is the number 1 priority now.
