Not fail, but when my wallbox pauses the gravity scheduled charging at 4pm (if I started prior) and then restarts at 9pm, the car just sits there waiting and then happily starts accepting electrons again at 9.

Not sure if it’s the same for DCFC but certainly possible.

I totally agree. What’s likely to happen instead is Lucid will eventually pass through membership rates.

I think it is smart of Lucid to try and keep the “charging” under one roof, if they can eventually get subscription plans into their app - it would explicitly prevent issues like what @hmp10 had.

But to be fair, it isn’t up to Lucid alone; Tesla (and others) have to work with them to do that.

Paid DCFC requires payment/account authorization, so each session is a different transaction that needs to go through that authorization step. Kinda like a gas pump that won't work until authorized, then ends that authorization a few seconds after stopping the flow.

Free charging doesn't though. At least free AC charging doesn't (unless of course the charger itself requires that step to turn on the juice).

I'm not as sure about free DCFC. The ones I've used have been ChargePoints that still go through the CP authorization step, even though it's free.

Either way though, Tesla SCs do require payment authorization each time.

What exactly is the connection between the Tesla app and Lucid? Why would Lucid be sending me a receipt for charging on the Tesla subscription plan which, as far as I know, is not linked to Lucid. I thought that was the reason you cannot use plug-and-charge at a Supercharger if you want to get the discounted charge fee on the Tesla subscription plan.

Is it just me or is the Lucid receipt for service rendered missing something? .. like how much energy you paid for, or even the means to calculate it? Come on Lucid!
 
Can someone conform if I have this right on the charging process at the Tesla superchargers. If Im not using the Tesla subscription do I just plug in and the billing is handled through the lucid app? If I have a Tesla subscription I go into the tesla app and select the charger and initiate charge and then plug in? Im driving to Michigan and don’t think it’s worth it for the subscription this time but plan to drive to Florida in a month so will definitely be worth getting the subscription plan then.

Correct. You have to make sure to have payment information stored in your Lucid account though for plug and charge to work. When using the Tesla subscription start in the Tesla app and plug in after you choose the location and stall.

Just an added reminder: you also have to hit “start charging” before plugging in if you want to get the subscription discount rate for the session.

The only charging accessory I'm really interested in is a short Tesla SC extension cable. I'd use it when I have my rear bike rack on the hitch and thus can't back up close enough to the chargers. There was supposed to be one, made for cars with their charge port in the wrong place, but it hasn't hit the market yet.

Not sure of this is completely accurate. I tried charging at Tesla supercharger and could not charge. I knew there was a brand new (5 months old ) bank of superchargers 12 kiosks I believe about 4 miles up the road but out of caution I called lucid and they no those were not available to Lucid’s as well. They have to be V3 or v4 I believe.

Has nothing to do with being V3 or V4 (of which there is only one location so far, most are V3 or the mixed "V3.5" sites), Tesla has some locations that aren't open to "NACS partners" (non-Tesla vehicles). I have a V3.5 style near me that's locked to Tesla only, I assume it's because it's a very busy location.

Yes, but to clarify, it does have to be a V3 or V4 (not a V2). No V2s can charge non-Teslas (not compatible). But while *most* V3's and V4's are authorized to charge non-Teslas, there are some that Tesla keeps restricted to only Teslas.

The app will filter out the ones we can't use, but I still prefer using the website map. It's faster and easier to work with for my tastes. Just have to set the filters to NACS Partner" and "Other EV", and uncheck "Tesla (only)".
