I have a question about the mobile connector. First a bit of background. I'll try to keep it short.

I frequently go to my daughter's house ~300 miles away. I had a NEMA 14-50 installed at their house so I could charge when I visit. The first time I plugged the mobile connector in, it started flashing red for several seconds and then it started flashing white. It worked fine and has worked fine at her house for maybe the last year. The first time I plugged the mobile connector in at her house is the only time I've seen it flash red until today.

I have also used the mobile connector at another home I own in Montana. It's never flashed red when I've used it there.

I've never used the mobile connector at my own home until today, as I have a wall unit I've used for years with other cars. But I recently had the wiring upgraded from 8AWG to 6AWG at home (and had been charging at 32 amps). Today I plugged in my Lucid mobile connector to try the new circuit and it started flashing red. It stayed flashing red for maybe 30 seconds. I was trying to determine the frequency of the flashes to see if it was a clue of what ever error there might be and then -- it started flashing white.

I'm now charging my car at 40 amps with no issues.

Anyone ever see this? The manual states the number of flashes can mean various things, depending on the number of flashes, but I didn't get a count. But it cleared by itself with no issues. I measure 238V with a Fluke meter.

I've noticed this issue when charging with the Lucid mobile connector at a friend or family member's house using a standard 110V outlet. It’s usually caused by a loose or faulty outlet. The workaround is to switch to a different outlet or disconnect the mobile connector, charging cable, and car plug. Wait a few seconds, then plug the mobile connector into the outlet before reconnecting the cable to the car.

I think I figured it out.

If you plug the car in before the mobile connector has power, it just starts freaking out. The number of red flashes signal different things, but I think essentially all error codes are tripped if you plug the car in first. Remembering carefully, I'm pretty sure that's what I did at my daughter's house the first time I ever used the mobile connector. I know that's what I did yesterday.

If you open the charge port using the phone app and don't plug in within say 30 seconds, it'll close on you. Yesterday I had to climb a ladder before I could plug the mobile connector into the wall. At my daughter's house, I had to open a garage door and move some boxes.

Order of operations is all it is.

Exactly - Mobile connector to wall outlet first and then the cable adapter to the car

Just in case you’re unaware, as long as the car is unlocked, you can simply push on the bottom right of the charging port door and it will open as well.

I have also seen it flashing red when the power connector is not seated well to the charger. Removing and reseating resolved.

And in my case… the mobile charger needed to be replaced 😕. But the warranty covered it!
