Lucid new CEO: Silvio Napoli

Damn! The guy hasn’t even been doing the job for 48 hours and people are branding him a failure. I get the frustrations based on Lucid's track record, but it’s a bit rich to start throwing comments about his demeanor, clothing size choices and basing opinions on what a Google search delivered about him on whether he can do the job or not.

Give it 6,12,18 months. If things stay the same or take a backward step then criticize away but it’s completely unreasonable to just passing judgement after less than 48 hours in the role.
Exactly.

At 7.20, in the interview….he is all about discipline.

Right know, Lucid experience varies a lot…depending on sales person, service center, quality control personnel.

They need standardization….they need discipline! Customers should not be getting such a varied experience.

Those who are unhappy about CEO choice, I hope they don’t run businesses.

Not a failure, but he’s definitely a retired CEO with zero car experience and absolutely no charisma. From the 90s.
He can have the most boring personality in the world for all I care. If he gets the job done and turns things around then who gives a damn about his charisma! He could look like the elephant man and Wall St wouldn’t give a damn as long as the numbers were being met!

Who has literal decades of experience in manufacturing and scale.

That’s from the stop sale from seat issue, try to be more transparent in your comments
That would imply they sell 3000 a month then. They sell about 1000 a month.

Besides, they said sudden stop in sales was planned to launch the 2027, which was a total lie. Only later did we learn the truth, and the stock dropped another 25%. After promising transparency and communication, they just came out and bullshitted everybody.

You're right... we (I) have been too quick to judge him... I take my comments back

Charisma doesn’t save a company…..you don’t need car experience because this is not a traditional car manufacturers model. Guess why Detroit manufacturers couldn’t build a good EV to compete with Tesla? And you want them to run Lucid?

They didn't stop sales, they stopped production

So you expect every company to come and tell everything that is going on….do you tell everyone every secret in your life that might be damaging? Only do it if you have to.

This thread is growing pretty quick. I removed watch not to get too many emails from this thread 😊

Lotta CapEx spent on factories in the past few years for a company that doesn't want to be a car company any longer.

And Lucid has been talking the licensing game since early days with Rawlinson at the helm, and it's gone nowhere. No takers from the major auto houses. Aston Martin deal dead. Genesis convertible talk never grew legs.

Service Centers imploding under load from an SUV that was supposed to bring Lucid to a larger market but was released prematurely with horrendous and continuing software issues.

Stock at $8.21.

I read this thread in search of a few flickers of hope for keeping one of the world's best auto engineering and design houses alive. But the sounds of the ventilator and heart monitor are distracting.
Who are you and what have you with @hmp10 ? You know, the guy with 3 Lucids who almost always puts a positive spin on his latest glitch or problem? You aren’t the guy we’ve come to empathize with! And hold in high stature for comittmrnt and dedication!

💪😋

I doubt they'll cancel the Air. They've used it as their halo platform to show the maximum range and efficiency for its class. The Sapphire served as like a mobile laboratory where the learnings were applied to the Air Pure and also the Gravity program as a whole.

Perhaps the "what we don't do" part can be with respect to doing less on academic or design studies and more on production-intent projects. If it's not production-intent, it could either be put on hold or dropped altogether.
Let's see how they respond to the announcement of the new 800V EQS having a longer range, I do think getting the Air RWS, chromatic roof and Gravity charging will be enough to keep it on top. They could also make a RWD one since you don't need 800hp or AWD to do long range.

They understand that knowing when not to talk can be just as important as knowing when to talk.

to me, it would be dropping research projects such as commercial energy storage, one-off government projects (like a research project with the Department of Defense that was announced a very long time ago), or design studies like the pickup truck images that were going around a while back, or R&D projects like the two-speed gearbox they patented a while back (but we haven't seen or heard anything from it since).

Robotaxi with Uber does seem to be production intent, as the concept was already built on top of the midsize platform. Uber also upped its order from Lucid, so I wouldn't be surprised if the contract will include dedicated robotaxis
This is an area I think the PIF is having a huge influence on, seeing as how they are also still large shareholders of Uber, and can get them to use Uber's profits to help subsidize Lucid, instead of straight cash or share dilution....

I didn't expect the Gravity to make Lucid profitable. I did expect it to broaden public familiarity with Lucid as a superb engineering and design house and to set the stage for the later move into the true mass market.

What we instead got was a vehicle released prematurely and put into the hands of major auto reviewers who, like early owners, were plagued with software problems ranging from the annoying to, at times, dangerous . . . and who said so unabashedly.

I'm pretty sure the engineers and designers at Lucid are going to deliver a mid-size product with great mechanical bones, class-leading room and comfort, and alluring styling.

But if this new CEO doesn't bend his efforts first and foremost to making absolutely sure that the user software works -- AND WORKS FROM THE START -- before the car is put in the hands of the public, Lucid and its stockholders can all kiss their asses goodbye.
I would hope that Lucid sees the virtue of getting Gravity's software to the point that people are raving about how good it is, and doing that before Cosmos launches. I do get the sense the Emad is taking the problem seriously, and there has now been a pretty steady cadence of releases that improve things. The counter point is that it's hard to understand how they could still be failing to get the key fob working 100% of the time.

It's because I have 3 Lucids (and a wad of stock) that I'm standing at the bedside praying.

I would have agreed with that for the first week after the 3.5.1 release. But it turned out to be the trigger of a cascade of new software problems that I and others had not seen before . . . or a very weird coincidence.
