Wrong, doesn’t matter when you show it to the general public. We know some such as Kyle from Out of Spec saw it, so it does exist. Keep the suspense going…..Yes, a midsize reveal was kind of expected given they had an hour long segment for it and promised delivery by end of year. They never confirmed they will show it, but it seems really odd not to. Hard to get excited on all these promises without seeing what the actual vehicle will look like. Just sounds like a kid talking about this amazing girlfriend he has...that goes to a different school, obviously.
With regard to entertainment, showing videos visible to the driver while the car is moving is probably a nonstarter from both a safety and legal perspective. Perhaps for rear passengers (children), but then why not give them inexpensive iPads?Same here. I like driving, and I prefer to steer myself. I don't even use lane-centering. Maybe it's because the roads in my region are often bad, but one thing I'm constantly doing while driving is making minor steering tweaks to avoid the potholes and bumps in the road. But moreover, I just don't like handing steering over to the car. Speed control is fine though.
Hopefully that "revenue opportunity" (subscriptions) graphic is referring mostly to autonomy features, not entertainment. I would guess that's the case.
It does matter, and a lot. Specially on investor day. And you specially want to show it to the general public/future potential buyers.Wrong, doesn’t matter when you show it to the general public. We know some such as Kyle from Out of Spec saw it, so it does exist. Keep the suspense going…..
My guess is they want the "reveal" to be its own event, which makes sense. Today was bigger picture and roadmap...Wrong, doesn’t matter when you show it to the general public. We know some such as Kyle from Out of Spec saw it, so it does exist. Keep the suspense going…..
Too many people may pronounce this wrongI guess since Lucid’s sticking with the planetary naming convention. Any bets on the unnamed midsize to be the Lucid Uranus?
I think that was just a way to put some lipstick on the 2026 stop sale. There isn't even anything new announced on the 27 Gravity.Did Lucid mention anything about when custom orders for the Gravity would open back up? Or anything about the 2027 Gravity at all?
Or are we still left in the dark?
now it has to sit in service for a monthIt never fails - doing a live demo of software to a large audience is asking for trouble.
The Lucid Assistant demo failed due to poor connectivity, so they resorted to a recorded video.![]()
Tesla just has wifi at Superchargers I think. My Tesla has cellular problems in the same locations my Lucid does too, they probably use the same provider. Some of this stuff is out of thier hands.Hotspot with phone or wifi while charging (which is what I did streaming with the Tesla)
Yep. And the vehicle may not be finished yet. Could still be pieces they're tweaking. That's OK for giving someone like Kyle a preview, but not complete enough to show the public. Once those pics go out, they'll be nitpicked to death. My guess is they want the "reveal" to be its own event, which makes sense. Today was bigger picture and roadmap...
The parts of it that I saw didn't reveal anything groundbreaking. They have a third (!) platform for a few midsize variants and they are providing vehicles for robotaxis, which is not new. The midsize marketing is impenetrable: Upscale nurturers? Trendsetting achievers? Gibberish. Their cost saving figures are speculative.FWIW, investors don't seem too impressed with Investor Day. Stock is down 7% today so far. (Overall market down 1%.)![]()
It's an EV though. Most owners won't be doing $1k/year in service. For new revenue, they plan to make twice as much out of subscription fees as service, which means that if I spend $1k/year on service they expect $2k/year on subscriptions, or ~$170/month out of me?!
Tesla uses Tmobile and Lucid uses AT&T. I my area AT&T is the worst, worst worst service. Somehow Lucid has better reception with AT&T than my mobileTesla just has wifi at Superchargers I think. This is very true. The glut of tax credits also created a bit of a Potemkin city for the EV industry as well.At the end of the day, it's the same story: they have the best hard product in the EV realm but Americans largely have a limited appetite for EVs, and Lucid's marketing continues to be bad.
Seems like most automakers use AT&T. I suppose like all carriers, it's just hit-and-miss on coverage. Which is why some people seem to have no problem with streaming (coverage where they drive must be fine). For me it's maddening having something as basic as car audio cutting in and out frequently.Tesla uses Tmobile and Lucid uses AT&T. I my area AT&T is the worst, worst worst service. Fair enough, to be honest I don't remember what I've spent per year on my Air maintenance. It's an EV though. Most owners won't be doing $1k/year in service.
Personally I think big autonomy subscriptions will fall pretty flat for the regular public. Already saw that with Tesla, Ford, and others that started off charging big subscription rates and only seeing like 10% uptake rates.
Just need to put one of those annunciation stickers on the marketing: Lucid Uranus “your-anus”Too many people may pronounce this wrong
