Huh? This is my second EV and I’ve not had PAAK yet. Of the 5 EVs in my family (extended) only one, my wife’s EV9, currently has that feature. Just bc something it normal to you, doesn’t make it so for everyone.

We had PAAK in our Mach-E, but like the Gravity it wasn't implemented right away. And when it did come later, it was inconsistent and undependable for a while until they finally got it dialed in pretty well. I'm expecting a similar path on the Gravity (especially considering Lucid's track record with software). Because of that rocky path, I never really trusted and embraced PAAK and always carried the fob, but I did have PAAK active as a redundancy. I'll do the same with the Gravity, hoping it improves the chronic fob delays.

Even if PAAK itself works well on the car side, you can always have phone problems, especially when there's hundreds of different phone models. Sometimes bluetooth is flaky, sometimes your phone locks up, or the app locks up, sometimes your phone battery dies. It's important to have a backup method to get in and start the car. In the Mach-E it was the keypad on the door (which I love on Fords). With the Gravity it's the cardkey (plus the app). As well as the fob, of course. I'll still carry it.

... My in laws would never be able to get comfortable with [PAAK] (late 60's) and would insist on a physical key fob. They still don't understand how you don't have to "turn your car off" when you park it...

Could be more an issue of being unfamiliar with EVs, rather than a symptom of age.

Similar experience with our EV9. It was flakey at first but got better, so I agree it’ll probably take Gravity a bit to get it right as well. I don’t think I’ll ever not carry the key card for the Gravity as a backup. I’m a tech guy all my life and I know how it can go right and wrong. A backup is always a good thing. I would like to eventually leave the fob behind tho.

No, what other keys would I need? Garage door for home or phone for side door. ID for work.

Wow…must be nice. Got office keys, despite badge on building door, house keys as backup to “smart” lock as they have occasionally dropped the ball, along with Gravity key and a few other fobs like Apple air tag. Don’t know if I’ll ever be able to be truly keyless but I’d be glad to at least leave the clunky fob behind!

I used to carry a bunch of keys but now I work from home, and my house has a garage door opener and/or key pad for entry. I have a few keys for family's house but I don't need to carry them with me all the time, so I'm much happier with an empty, or at least nearly empty pocket.

That said, I do carry my Air fob with me for two reasons:

1. The PAAK works mostly but is delayed just barely often enough to be annoying while the key fob has the car presenting the handles very reliabily.

2. I don't like finding myself in a position where I need someone else to drive (tire shop, valet parking) and trying to get them to understand how to use the key card. Hell, even I haven't figured out how to get it to let me drive without entering a PIN.

So I just find it easier to have the fob with me just in case.

Ah, the awesome "digital key" and "digital wallet" that has been "the future" for about 5 years. lol

I love not carrying keys/wallet and for a while, I thought we were getting there... Then I got my giant chunk of plastic 1990's FOB so I might as well carry the keys again... ;-).

And come on NC, get the drivers license on the phone that every driver has. Only 14 out of 50 states allow this currently...in 2026.

I carry a bag with lots of other stuff since I'm a mom, so having keys doesn't bother me. No beer bottle opener though...

Many people do not carry a key with them. Many park in a garage with the HomeLink opening the door. I rarely carry a key.

I will pile on. I haven’t carried a physical key of any kind in 4 years. Home locks are biometric. Office is biometric. Life is grand. 0 glitches in four years and probably thousands of interactions across many devices.
