Lucid Air's Number One Software Issue?

I'm currently beta testing Elon Musk's Neuralink. I can't get it to open the doors on my Lucid, but I can see a whole lot of dead people on social security.

Nice post Borski.

... old, long retired, work from the garage (car is right there),
and hate my smart phone (except for podcasts and ear buds, which are cool).

I am likely the worst offender when it comes to complaining about the key fob .

No person is more annoying than the newly-converted. My blood pressure raises every time I see the RELENTLESS posts complaining about the key fob / fob battery. I'm going to make a video on how to use it and make the battery last for years, and be around the Air and not wake it.

I stopped using the Mobile Key (phone app is off) because it's too many steps to turn off/ turn on - requires sobriety too. The Mobile Key is the key fob with more steps, but unpredictable, whereas the fob is always pure (for me). I often don't have my phone with me, even when I leave home.

I just want to restate: the key fob is flawless (well, mine is, but I am curious, (blue).

It’s great that you are willing to forgo one of the features offered by lucid and instead wish to use the key fob which is supposed to be made unnecessary by the mobile key experience. That doesn’t mean that the mobile key experience does not have its flaws and is clearly the number one annoying feature that people are describing. Moreover, I have no interest in getting a Faraday bag. Cars shouldn’t make you get one of those. Just because there’s a workaround tailing carrying something else around and buying something elsedoesn’t mean there’s not a problem. And the problems been there for years.

Actually, I think the historically correct description of that photo is Michael Faraday standing with his phone in his hand, in the rain after he's taken his wife and friends to dinner hoping the doors might unlock and making small talk saying 'this really doesn't usually happen' - meanwhile Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla are telling him he probably needs to take it into the service center!

I'll gloss over the mobile key... how about the fact that you cannot change your music without losing your on-screen navigation? Absolutely mindboggling UI decision.

touch anything and everything resets. it is amazing the inability to walk and chew gum at the same time. That said I like to walk up, have my car unlock and get it. I guess it's a LUXURY I took for granted in the past (my 2007 corvette does it flawlessly - from 18 years ago).

You may need to take yours in for service though.

I'm confused, why would I take the car in for service because their user interface hides navigation when you bring up the music controls? It's their UI design, not a bug.

It was a lame joke - the old timers round here like to cover everything they know sucks by telling new owners to take it in for service (and clog the service centers). You are probably holding your phone wrong, or haven't cleaned the bitterant properly off the batteries you replaced last week.

There are many things that could be improved in the software and interface. The first one would be LISTENING, imho. I hope Lucid finds a new CEO smart enough to clear house in this particular area - it is letting the brilliant engineering in the hardware down.

Cars should unlock. Cars should go into drive when you want to drive.

Well to be honest, service replaced all 4 door handles and it worked pretty well for a while.

That is your fault clearly - you went in to service as told and only had 4 handles replaced - you should have had all 8 replaced!

when do we wake up and face the music that there may be a basic gettin in the dang car problem?

What would having the music entail? We all recognize the issue as a community and we are trying to help by giving our advice and wisdom from 18 to 36+ months of experience. Why lucid hasn't recalled 6k airs to fix door handles/ fobs/Bluetooth transmitter/some very complicated interconnected systems, I have no clue. But suffice it to say it's not something they WANT to ignore.

I love it, "halLUCIDating..."

I feel it's something EVERYONE wants to ignore, and probably a super simple fix for Mobile Key, or they completely botched the Bluetooth receiver radio/antenna. which I think we all secretly suspect and don't want to really talk about.

You are being unnecessarily aggressive. Nobody is covering anything. Show me one example of where I or any other 'old timer' told someone to take a UX issue in for service. I bet you can't.

I am asking you, politely, to please stop. Please aim for collaborative, productive conversation, not arbitrary sniping at others on the forum.

I am considering putting down a deposit on one shortly. And I thought the Tesla forums were filled with software problems!
