Lucid Air Touring - major issues in cold weather - anyone else?

Though no replacement for a washer, I’ve found that cleaning the camera lens and applying a thin layer of rain protection like RainX has worked wonders in the snow, ice, and road grime. Much better than nothing at all but less effective than an actual washer. Lasts about 3 months too.

Yes Rainex is good but even better try nano coating, I use this for my windshield too and I could drive on highway in snow and don’t need wipers almost. But for the back camera ! Not as good as the front one.

You can use anything waxy or si02. I’ve done it on all sorts of stuff!

I'll definitely do that. I'll probably apply a light ceramic hydrophobic wax since it makes water bead, it shouldn't stick as easily

2023 Air Touring located in central MA, west of Boston. No special winter problems to report driving in New England and upstate NY, which surprised me, given some of the bitter cold temperatures this winter. Just the usual problems: front sensors all fail pretty quickly in a snow storm from accumulating snow. Driving in deep snow is a problem from low ground clearance.

Reading this thread reminds me of reason "fifty-eleven" why Chameleon hibernates safely in her spot in the garage from Thanksgiving until around St. Patrick's Day!

Yup you can wax anything you want, has no abrasives or anything.

I have had a winter in NH and one one north of Denver but never had a problem except reduced efficiency in the cold weather. Car was not garaged in NH and aside from brushing snow off never had door handle problems.

So I just had something really weird happen. Some of you guys in colder climates are gonna read this and think "what's the issue, dude?" Some of you in California and Arizona might go So...here goes.

Wound up going through a Culver's drive-thru. At Culver's they bring your order out to your car. So the guy brings my order out to the car and says "Did you know somebody spilled something reddish orange on your car?" I'm about to have a panic attack. I get out and sure as heck there are orange beads of liquid on the glass canopy from the middle back. I drive home, let the car sit for a bit to allow the liquid to freeze. Then I go out with a towel so that I can wipe it up and try to figure out what it is.

As I wipe the orange ice towards the back of the car and it slides onto the silver part of the roof panel it becomes clear ice. The orange is (I think) the rear seat color of the Tahoe interior reflecting back up through the glass. I've had cars with sunroofs and pano-roofs before and never witnessed such.

This is part of the tint on the glass canopy. It show in the rain as well.

I use nano ceramic coating everywhere even on my Mags that stay clean longer. Specially on all Camera, windshield and Lidar
