Low Suspension for Entry/Exit

I am NOT a fan of the low suspension on entry/exit, having just put my first two scrapes on my Gravity on a curb at work that isn't even particularly high - and that I never had an issue with in my Tesla S. I have now set my suspension to HIGH on exit, which is too goofily high, but you only get two options. I wish there was a middle ground.

I backed into a spot at my office and opened the front door and bang, the door got pinned on the curb. Annoyingly, you can't raise the suspension when the door is open, so I did a little hop in my seat to at least take my weight off as I yanked the door hard to close it, then put it in high to get out. Later in the day, I wasn't paying attention, and went to put something in the back seat, and I guess the suspension had auto-lowered itself at some point in the meantime, and scrape, there went the back door. Ugh.

Then I knew I needed to raise the suspension to even get the front door open to sit in the driver's seat, and frustratingly, the app wouldn't work for me. I could press the ride height setting, but it just spun endlessly and nothing happened. I was figuring I was going to have to climb over the center console from the passenger seat, but fortunately I could access the menu in the car from the passenger seat.

Use with a lot of caution. These doors are LOW.

Low/High are the only options? That is strange. Is this with the 3 chamber air shocks?

You could just not have it move the suspension on easy entry/exit. Mine just stays at “standard” as that’s usually what it drives in.

I have thought about that, but for the moment I am still a little concerned that even standard might be too low for some curbs. And if I forget when I'm getting out of the car from sprint mode....

I have found Standard IS close for a number of curbs, so I hear you on that. It’s an oddly low door given actual car height, but that’s because the “door” goes much lower than actual door opening - sort of like the R1S.

YMMV of course, but around here I haven’t had an issue with Standard. Wouldn’t use low though.

Is it? When I had Easy Entry set on Low I found the Gravity to be almost too low. I don’t ever remember feeling that way about my X.
We like standard height where on Cybertruck we had to lower everytime.

I do think they need to open up the capability to raise the suspension even when a door is open. If it gets pinned, you've got to scrape it again to unpin it.

How do you even set it to low? I haven't figured that out.
Read the manual. Just kidding. Sort of…😆

There’s an option to have the car move to low or high when you park. I can’t recall which menu, but think it’s where the easy exit options are…the challenge (to me) is the car doesn’t really move to that desired position immediately upon putting it in “park” and unbuckling.

You can also change the height while driving from the vehicle screen, but options depend on speed.

Haha. Actually, I was asking about setting up Easy Entry . I thought that was the discussion. Lol

I do need to figure out how to set up Easy Entry to a desired position.

That’s not customizable - which is super annoying. I hope they change it because it doesn’t make it “easy” for me. It doesn’t really move enough for my liking. You can have it “on” or “off”, but it how much it moves and where it moves is a set position for now.

I usually park in a space at the end of a row if I can find one to reduce the odds of getting a door ding from another car. But the first time I did this in the Gravity I, too, scraped the driver door on the curb -- nothing that never happened in our Air.

My problem with using a higher entry/exit setting is that I am fairly short, and the way I have to slide over the seat bolsters before my feet hit the ground makes me worry about wearing their upholstery out.

I now avoid parking alongside a curb and hope I don't have to deal with as many door dings as with the Air. (Especially during season, a high percentage of folks here are retirees who have trouble getting in and out of cars without throwing their doors wide open, and they just don't bother about what they're hitting with their doors.)

I have the same issue with being relatively short and I am seeing early wear on the bolster I kind of have to slide over. It’s leather, so it will be fine, but already beginning to look worn and while I am not tall, I am also not very heavy, so hopefully, it doesn’t get worse fast.

I am getting pretty good at putting both hands on the seat cushion and heaving myself over the bolster as much as possible, but it's a maneuver that doesn't work if I'm parked in a space where I can't open the door full wide. I'm particularly worried about it in the car with the Yosemite Purluxe, which I like to drive more (because of the bigger Pirelli-clad wheels) than the one with the Tahoe leather.

Mine is in Standard height and here in Los Angeles, the doors hit almost every curb. The door design is so stupid. It’s one of the major complaints I have about the car.

I suspect Lucid designed the door that way for the same reason Rivian puts a skirt on their doors -- to keep your legs from getting dirty when getting into or out of the car if it's been through mud, slush, or the like. But I, too, find it a poor decision for the price it exacts. I'd rather wash a pair of pants than have a door skirt repaired or replaced.

Yeah, I am finding myself paranoid about the doors, more than I have ever been in any car. (ironically, this is my first SUV) Even in high yesterday, I could barely get the driver door open when I parked next to a curb. The door cleared the curb ok, but there was grass behind the curb that raised up a bit, and the door caught that. When dropping my kid off at school curbside, I am always raising the suspension in the carpool line and worrying about forgetting one day. Yesterday I dropped my wife off at the door of a restaurant and left a few feet for her to open the door, just in case. I should do some measuring to validate how much of this is reality vs. paranoia, but it's not all paranoia, I know that.

I don't seem to have the ability to make any adjustments for Easy Entry. All I can do when I go to Easy Entry is On/Off.

There was a pop up here in Vegas so I asked the rep and he showed me on the panel how it's done. I did see Low, Medium and High settings on his panel. It will be very useful to us especially to my wife especially if the suspension goes to low upon entering and exiting.
