Not sure if us having 3 Lucid Airs over the last 2 years have something to do with it, but we will take it. I think having a strong relationship with your salesman is important as he/she can fight for you if you are in the right.

I read the above statement and all the reddit responses. I will definitely put my Gravity plans on hold. Charging for a skid plate in 99% of cases will be pure bs. That said the more they get away with the more they will be emboldened to find other charges to pass thru. As noted these returns are used cars not new cars and need to be judged according to industry standards. It would be very interesting to see if they are in fact replacing these skid plates? It might kill the brand future but enough of the lease returnees get together and file a class action against Lucid, Lucid Financing, BofA et al would likely stop the bs type charges. I would bet a fair chunk of cash that certain parts (See skid plate) are never replaced/ repaired so the charge would be completely fraudulent. (Lease inspector feel free to respond as to this last sentence).

I was really looking forward to the Gravity. The one thing I do not need is extra aggravation in my life. Hard enough dealing with the early adopter issues but to be treated this poorly on a used car return is ridiculous. I will keep watching the site and seeing what changes Lucid makes but as of now (sadly) the gravity is off my list.
 
So my fiance' reached out to our Lucid salesman to thank him for helping out with our problem with the inspection process. He told her they just had week long meetings in Arizona and a big topic was the lease turn-in problems. He said Lucid is going to work with Bank of America and their inspection company to assure these problems cease to happen. I have my 2024 Touring lease coming up in 3 months (I just leased a 2025 Touring) so we'll see if I run into anything crazy.
 
To be fair, Lucid will step up when pressed. Some won’t. Looking at you-Lexus Financial and your shady dealerships

Lucid doesn't usually do things fast, but they usually do things right. They're working on it; I suspect six months from now this will be in the rear view mirror. By the time your lease is up, none of this will matter. Lots changes in 3 years.

Said no one ever. Lexus has a well-earned reputation for dealership excellence and customer service better than just about anyone - and in my experience with the brand I can see why.

Maybe it’s just here but the Lexus dealer is the worst in town. People will go to another State before dealing with them. That family owns BMW too, same story.

They have the worst glass wear and tear policy I have ever seen.
 
As a company, they need to get an alert when the bill is over $3k. Being proactive will fix a lot of this
 
I’ve leased quite a few cars and the most “wear and tear” I got was one tire needing to be replaced at $350 and they ate that cost (Lexus) for no other reason than wanting to keep me happy even if I was leaving the brand.

Agreed. This experience has put me off leasing forever. Despite the fact that every single lease return I've had has been completely painless, I just can't risk that I get a final bill equal to 1/3 of all my monthly payments. Which is sad because I was able to get some fantastic lease deals in the past.

Moving on to buying cars from here on out, and certainly not Lucid. Which sucks in this market.

I've already warned six acquaintances who were utterly obsessed with my car and were ready to lease that they should reconsider, or at least be mentally prepared to have their monthly payments effectively increased by several hundred dollars, taking into account "excess" wear and tear charges.

I was a huge brand lover before this debacle, and I would invite lots of people to try driving my Air and sing Lucid's praises.

I hope they turn it around. The product is so good that they can't afford to have negative brand ambassadors.
 
Lucid definitely stepped in it on this one. The traditional luxury car companies all own their own financial services companies (BMW, Mercedes, Audi) so they can and do control these type of alleged costs. As part of its bankruptcy General Motors sold its financial subsidiary in what i snow called Ally Bank. But after a few years of using its former subsidiary, GM started its own financial arm.

I understand why Lucid, as a new company with limited financial resources, decided to use a third party. Unfortunately, it has not turned out well.
 
As @borski noted and as my SA has mentioned to me, they are highly focused on this. Not saying it's perfect yet but it's clearly a focus. I would say for those that are looking at the Gravity versus the Air for leasing, the Air is meaningfully lower to the ground which causes the skid plate scraping frequently mentioned. Shouldn't really be an issue for the Gravity. But as always, there are plenty of choices in the market and people can pick and choose whichever car they want. I will say though, after getting back from having to use a rental, I can't really imagine driving another vehicle.
 
I feel like BofA is milking the categories.

I've seen a $500 splash sheild called a "front bumper cover" and $2400

I've seen a $300 fender liner called a "front fender" and $2400

either BofA doesn't have enough categories to make accurate prices, or, they are miscategorizing wear items in thier favor.
 
This was posted a few days ago by an official Lucid Motors account. Hopefully we start seeing some improvement soon.

Mmm…depends on how much damage you have on the skid plate.

The way I look at it, if it reduces the resale value, it’s game. Why should those who lease be given a free ride for the damage they caused?
