I hope you're right about the average buyer wanting point-to-point by 2028.I honestly don't think most people even know what FSD is. If I talk to people in my social circle, very few actually know that Teslas can drive you (while supervised) door to door. That said, when people find out about it, they are amazed. They still don't want a Tesla though (more so because of looks, perceived quality, etc. than Elon, but also that).
As much as I like driving myself, I have no doubt that point-to-point will be table stakes for your average buyer by 2028. This will partially be driven by widespread robotaxi availability and partially driven by increased consumer offerings of point-to-point.
There are already so many bad drivers on the road.
There are a variety of reasons people drive bad.
If they don't want to drive anyway and fsd will do a bettter job for them, that's fine with me and others who like to drive and maintain the skill.
FSD will improve. The driving skill level of humans, probably won't.
If the results are safer roads and fewer traffic incidents, I'm all for it.
History seems to show that advancements in automotive technology is not a bad thing.
And yet, the subscription revenue from fsd, for now, will appeal to car makers.
The true impact may not be until fsd service is included as standard service with a purchase.
Insurance companies will also have a say in how this goes.
That's another discussion thread again.
