Kim Java - Preview Gravity?

I honestly don't think most people even know what FSD is. If I talk to people in my social circle, very few actually know that Teslas can drive you (while supervised) door to door. That said, when people find out about it, they are amazed. They still don't want a Tesla though (more so because of looks, perceived quality, etc. than Elon, but also that).

As much as I like driving myself, I have no doubt that point-to-point will be table stakes for your average buyer by 2028. This will partially be driven by widespread robotaxi availability and partially driven by increased consumer offerings of point-to-point.
I hope you're right about the average buyer wanting point-to-point by 2028.

There are already so many bad drivers on the road.
There are a variety of reasons people drive bad.
If they don't want to drive anyway and fsd will do a bettter job for them, that's fine with me and others who like to drive and maintain the skill.
FSD will improve. The driving skill level of humans, probably won't.

If the results are safer roads and fewer traffic incidents, I'm all for it.
History seems to show that advancements in automotive technology is not a bad thing.
And yet, the subscription revenue from fsd, for now, will appeal to car makers.
The true impact may not be until fsd service is included as standard service with a purchase.
Insurance companies will also have a say in how this goes.
That's another discussion thread again.

I agree, the Tesla FSD is tiresome but it’s clearly something that will get a Tesla owner to move. I’ve spoken to many Tesla owners who complain about the quality of their cars but will stick to the brand purely because of FSD.

Like it or not, a Tesla owner is probably an easy convert for Lucid if they had L2++ on offer. The cars are generally a better build quality, go further, charge faster and drive better. If they got L2++ out ahead of others then I wouldn’t be surprised if they secured many of those Tesla owners fed up with the brand. Lucid’s slowness to deliver on this stuff though will just allow another brand to swoop in and scoop up those buyers though.
Why would anyone want Tesla owners as customers? There are literally 10x more millions of ICE cars on the road to convert. Elon won't even sell you a car in 3 years once Robotaxi profits overtake selling cars.

Actually that is not true. Tesla moved from a full purchase model priced at $8 - 15k depending on when you bought it, to a $99/month subscription model. Take rate for the subscription is somewhere around 75% of new owners. We have been subscribing to it for about 2 years of the 3 that we've owned our Model Y.
The also removed any other driving assistance unless you paid a subscription. But the actual active miles driven is increasing fast, so there is evidence it's not just a forced paid feature, but actually being used.

Converting ICE customers can be a very slow process, especially outside of the east and west coasts. I am sure the goal is a little of both. Convert some existing ICE drivers and then also convert some dissatisfied Tesla owners. To convert ICE customers Lucid is going to have to massively improve it’s service centers. Having to occasionally wait a little longer at a DCFC is one thing but having to wait for weeks or months for service will keep those potential customers away.

I think most ICE customers never think twice about service after the sale, because it's never been a problem. If I were to make a recommendation for winning ICE customers it would be a coupon to set up their home L2 charging "for free" and some guidance on how the Lucid range and charging times would make for the daily driving they do and any trips they envision easy. Most ICE driver's just can't envision their life with an EV and consider it a bigger hassle. If the question of service comes up, you need a good answer, but I don't think it's the main thing keeping them away.

We were lifetime ICE owners before we decided to make Gravity our first EV. Like most of the converted, I cant imagine ever going back.

Both GM and Ford do this from time to time.

My Gravity is also my first EV and can’t see ever going back to ICE. BUT, if something doesn’t improve drastically with the Houston SC, my next EV will probably not be a Lucid.

I used to think Lucids software was their biggest problem, but now i believe they themselves are their biggest problem. Air has been out 5 years and still not reliable mobile keys. Gravity going on several years too. This isn’t a lack of software skills, it’s a totally busted way of doing things. They are their own worst enemy.

Having said that, Tesla over Lucid? Eww. Idk. If the service wasn’t so bad I’d argue harder. But I went BMW instead of another Tesla. That company is destroying the world. I chose BMW solely because Lucid service and customer service is so bad.
I get an occassional delay in keys opening or app opening....NO BIG DEAL......they go yapping about it as if it is the end of the world....

Looking at her review, seems to be very nitpicking….there is a reason you carry a keycard….soft reset is also there for a reason…..

I know software still needs improving, but they just go on and on about a few minor things and did not use the keycard as intended.

And that constant..” it doesn’t have FSD” the same Tesla fanboy nonsense……why does every Tesla cult member need to bring that up….most people don’t care and just drive their cars. The mere fact they brought up FSD makes this review biased beyond proportion. You can’t realistically expect other car companies to suddenly have FSD comparable tech. And Rivian that she mentions point to point coming ….ITS NOWHERE CLOSE…they don’t even have a chip yet….

Lucid is truly a drivers car too, I don’t feel like they ever really sold it as an FSD competitor. Sure FSD is “better”, but Lucid is a drivers car first and foremost. 600hp is useless if it’s all controlled by FSD.

I finally watched the video. I thought it was very good, with a balance perspective. I like that they approached the review from the position of someone adopting it as a family car, which is actually what Lucid's current marketing effort is going for (moving away from the celebrity adoption they were going for before)
