Hardware difference between Gravity DreamDrive 2 base and Premium

Does anybody happen to know if there is a difference in hardware between DD2 base and premium? I know the pro includes additional HW but its unclear if premium is only a software difference or not.

I don’t know if there is a hardware difference but here is a comparison of DD and DD2 at their respective package levels.

That's slightly different than the configurator which shows hands free and automated lane change only being available with Pro.

Presumably Pro is the only version with Lidar?

Thanks @borski and @Elfin. I did see the comparison table but cant find any information on whether DD2 Premium can be purchased after the car is delivered. If HW, it would certainly make that impossible but during sales presentation it sounded like only Pro added HW.

This is very confusing and conflicting. I ordered my Gravity with Pro mainly so that it would have Hands-free Drive Assist on highways (and hopefully some future added FSD type abilities.) Based on the chart above, the only thing Pro gives you over Premium are some parking functions I and most others will never use. For the large price premium for Pro vs Premium, there better be more than some added parking features.

I actually emailed Lucid CS I think yesterday asking if I could software update from the base DD2 to DD2 Premium by paying the $1500 since my sales advisor thought it was possible due to no new hardware. Haven't heard back yet.

Alright, so I finally got an email back from customer service and the guy said I can do it via the app!! I checked numerous times specifically he said (go to vehicle info - upgrades available - dream drive 2 premium) but nothing at all like that on the app. Now, on the lucidmotors.com profile, I can clearly see an area that says "Upgrades" and under what's available in it, sadly nothing available to upgrade as well. That's so wierd

Thanks for that update, @bhramabull. I’ve seen that section but haven’t found anything there. I’ve got a service visit coming up and will inquire with them. My sales advisor seems less than enthusiastic about looking into any of this.

DD2Pro for Gravity is the only one with hands free (at some point). That’s really the difference.

If you can upgrade to premium, there not going to tell anyone now as no one would buy premium up front, which is better for Lucid near term (I think).

If I had it do over, I’d save the big dollars and get Premium in Gravity. I am fine having hands on the wheel. Just drove an Air with hands free and it’s weird as there’s nothing to do with your hands. Just put them in your lap or on arm rests? Just strange.

That comparison is different from configurator, as others pointed out. Wish Lucid would just be clear about it. But I am not sure they’ve decided how to price it and what features to include.

I think that is an old chart from @borski. See attached screenshot that is currently on Lucid site. The key differences between packages are with “Drive Assist”. DD Standard gives you basic Level 2 Hands On Drive Assist. DDPremium gives you Enhanced Hands On Drive Assist. This appears to primarily be some software enhancements, so might be upgradable from Standard to Premium in the future. The big price increase to DDPro gives you Hands Off Drive Assist (coming in near future) as well as other future advanced ADAS improvements (steps toward FDS). I am pretty sure that DDPro has hardware like LiDAR and other sensors that can’t be added to lower levels in the future. So if you want these current and future Hands Off features, you need to pony up now.

Thats what I was hoping for. Really actually enjoy driving but the occasional relief on long drives from the base/premium DD would be nice plus some of the additional add ons that premium brings once these features are a bit more polished.

Folks - A small favor for those that just got their Gravity delivered with DreamDrive 2 basic (not premium, not pro). Do any of you see that you can software upgrade to atleast the Premium per the instructions above. You can look at it either on the app or via your dashboard profile on lucidmotors.com

No one with a Gravity on this forum has been able to do this. It is speculated the hardware is identical for the two lower versions of DD and it will be possible, and that seems reasonable, but it makes zero sense for Lucid to offer it now. Like many parts of the car and phone software, there are hints of future and former features in various places.

I was told that there is a hardware difference in the LIDAR between Premium and Pro so no upgrade path was readily available. I have no idea of Base to Premium though.

Also, when they talk about automated lane changes I believe they’re talking about completely AI decided lane changes and executions. Premium will change lanes with prompting from the driver’s turn signal. Since Premium also has lane changes suggestions I suppose it’s just linking the functionality from the suggestion into action. That seems like an artificial limit, which I’m fine with.

I‘m not trying to be annoying, but it seems pretty clear to me? I’m just on the compare vehicles page and then clicked on DreamDrive Premium or Pro to see the details…
