Haggling?

Taycan Turbo
I have a Porsche Taycan, and my wife and I have been looking for an EV for her, for about a year. We think we've settled on the Lucid, likely the Grand Touring. At first we thought we'd option up the Touring model, but that doesn't seem doable. Features like the massage seats that are available on the GT aren't even options on the Touring. Quite a difference from Porsche, where every little thing is a seperate option.

Anyway, we are planning on calling the dealer tomorrow to finalize things, and are wondering if we should bother haggling. Has anyone been successful at negotiating down the price? Or getting any perks added for free?

Thanks!

Very unlikely with Lucid's direct-to-consumer model. Haggling at a traditional dealership cuts into the dealers profit in addition to MSRP, but when you purchase direct, it's just straight MSRP.

Tesla also uses a direct model, and never haggles.

Your best bet is some free swag during your delivery appointment.

What swags have people been able to get? I want the Lucid zip sweater or the tire kit

I believe everyone gets a bag, hat and coffee/drink cup

Some folks get some jazzy pencils but I have not gotten those

Porsche is at the top of the single line item options game, Lucid is too early in their manufacturer journey to have that element of their business sorted out

For me, the bag+hat+water bottle came in the car (the two items in the bag). The pencils came months earlier and I suspect were a one-off promotion.
All exactly the same for me here.

lolol Says a lot about the haggling possibilities when the answer seems to be "some people got pencils".

FWIW the pencils are like $27 for a dozen retail and they're...fine.

I got a bubbly soda during a recent studio visit. I was told that is the swag for non GT cars due to cut backs.

I got a hat, a water bottle, a cleaning cloth but no pencils. Yet.

I have to say, in the beginning, Tesla were a little more generous in their swag. We took delivery of our first Tesla in early 2017, pre Model 3 days. We got a hat, a coffee mug, a fancy pen, fancy coat pins, an umbrella, a t-shirt, “ownership certificates” and a big fancy gift bow on the roof of the car.

By the time the Model 3 came along all that swag and fanfare were swept away. Prompted by COVID protocols, today’s new Tesla owners are left on their own to find their car in the car park. No swag.

And pay for their own EVSE charging cable. Those ought to be standard imo.

That's old school and just goes to show how much a pad is built in to traditional stealerships that are independently owned and operated.

Direct to consumer model, like polestar, tesla, rivian, fisker, and maybe ford in the future, no haggling. I was able to secure delivery swag though and as a bonus got those pencils , a promotional magazine, and a postcard.
