I just got notified to update to 3.5.7. Installing now.

Must be a general rollout - I am installling now too. You’re 20 minutes ahead of me. Hope all is well on your end

Don’t want to worry anyone but I’ve been at 99% updating for about 40 minutes and the app says vehicle offline so take the 20 minutes estimate with a grain of salt.

We got an "Update Available" notice on the Glass Cockpit as we were driving home tonight. When I got home and checked, I found lengthy release notes on the Pilot Screen about all the changes, including CarPlay, Android Auto, remote start, wipers, voice assistant improvements, phone call clarity, more streaming connectivity stability, etc. When I started the update, though, I was surprised to find it only took 20 minutes for such a large menu of improvements.

But when I went into the house and checked the forum, I found the same message that @johnse posted above. I then checked my app and saw the update had already completed and was showing only this same short message there.

What gives? Why were the release notes displayed in the car far more comprehensive than what is displaying on the app?

Were the release notes on the Pilot Screen from an earlier update that were just repeated in error?
 
My loaner did this update this morning. One of the Lucid software accounts on here said that it's to prepare for the real update, which is supposed to have a lot of good stuff.
 
Just installed this on mine a few min ago. Installed pretty fast--even a bit faster than the quoted 20 min. Just checked on the car and everything seems the same so far (i.e. nothing seems to have been broken by the update). 😅
 
I just let the update run for me last night. It ran from 9:41 PM to 1:40 AM so plan accordingly. I see others weren’t affected like that so here’s hoping your updates are quicker.
 
So they have to make changes in the car so that when the real update comes, it will work. I wonder what that could be.
 
My update was 20 minutes, as advertised.
 
I think it's wonderful they're setting up the software to be more robust in the future. Not kidding there - seems like everyone's experience with this update has been solid - mine was. It just feels like a more thoughtful, deliberate OTA process. Kudos to Lucid!

Can any software people help me understand why a pre update update would be necessary if the pre update does not infact result on any obvious improvement or new functionality? Why can't it be one update?

Not complaining, I'm sure there are good reasons but as a non techy I would think everything can just be in one update?

Mine updated successfully on first attempt in ~20 minutes as advertised.

NOTE THE BELOW IS SPECULATION ON MY PART BUT TAKEN FROM YEARS OF SEEING SOFTWARE DEPLOYED ON HARDWARE VARIOUS SYSTEMS

This would likely be done in two steps as the first step requires a reboot of the car before the actual update can happen (and there may be some reformatting of the software layout or some such). Breaking this into two distinct parts makes sure that the first part is done and dusted before the second part (the actual software upgrade) is attempted.

It's not unusual if a big update fundamentally adds things or changes the way things operate behind the scenes. For a big update like that you typically want to prepare the foundation, let it sit before slapping the building straight on top of it. Trying to do it all at once could just lead to a plethora of issues. It's just good practice.

Also speculation, but they might be trying to avoid another fiasco like the recent one with an OTA bricking RWD Pures
 
This update might be changing something about the way updates are performed and how it responds to failed updates. Haven't received mine yet
 
Yes, that's my speculation too. Most likely they are updating the upgrader, potentially increasing what it could change or hardening it. The fun part with architecting upgraders is you need to prepare for cases you didn't think of when you build them. Most modern upgraders take some form of template to solve this.
 
It’s interesting that there were several installations yesterday up until this morning. The tracker app has not changed as well. Also it seems like mostly Gravity DE were upgraded. Perhaps they are fine tuning this update based on the initial sample of downloads. We will see!
