Gravity GT
Hello, we have learned a lot from you owners. Thank you. We put $1000 down 3 months ago but that was just in case. We were going back and forth with Lucid Gravity vs BMWiX60Msport. We drove the Lucid yesterday and made our decision to purchase the Gravity mainly because it seats 7 comfortably and we have 9 grandchildren ages 1-9. We really like the feel of the drive. It is very smooth. We also like the range and the fact that Lucid as a company is all electric. The Lucid advisor also shared (when we told him about the choice was between BMWiX and Gravity) about the new EV platform coming out to BMW in 2026 with the iX3. We are happy to have ordered it but have some questions about options... we thought maybe someone here with experience might help us. Need to cut where we can.
1) surreal sound vs pro sound -only heard pro how is the sound with regular surreal?
2) Do we need dynamic handling package? why?
3)Getting Dream Drive Pro to be able to upgrade mainly and like more sensors.
4)Comfort and convenience pkg - don't really care about heated steering wheel and auto window shades - any other reason to get it?
5)power package is just 3 AC outlets? never used them before - don't really tailgate
6)Getting towing to take kids and stuff on adventures.
We are leasing b/c we feel EV is growing so fast we will want upgraded in 3 years. Need to order with VIN number by Sept 30 to get 7500 credit fyi - we clarified this we think you do not have to take DELIVERY by then. So we should be good - told 4-6 weeks after we get VIN. Ordered from Tysons Corner VA.

1) The audio options depend on your preferences. If you’re a podcast audiobook radio person you don’t need SSPro. If you like to listen attentively and critically and want the music to sound like it’s RIGHT THERE then you want SSPro, with the caveat that you should also get a Tidal subscription so you can experience tracks mixed in Dolby Atmos.
2) I think dynamic handling is the one with rear wheel steering? If so, you NEED that. It makes the Gravity easier to park than my Air in spite of being a larger vehicle.
3) Can’t think of a reason to NOT get DDPro. Hands free drive assist in the Air has been great and will only get better so I’d assume it will be the same with Gravity, except better due to upgraded sensors/CPU power from the Air.
4) I think comfort has massaging seats and more adjustable seats and extra sound proofing? If you don’t care about those you don’t need it.
5) power package probably isn’t needed unless you go camping or park on the beach like in that Gravity ad, which literally no one does unless they’re a multi-millionaire and have a private beach. But hey you could use the outlets to power tire pump or inflatable mattress or a bounce house for grandkids birthday so maybe you do want the outlets? And powered coolers are awesome so I could see you using the outlets for that.
6)I’m guessing if you’re going on adventures and towing you maybe do want #5

Most of these are just personal choices but I'll try:

-I always go best audio so that's a no brainer.
-Everyone I've heard that has drove a Gravity has said the Dynamic Handling package is worth it as it gives you rear wheel steering.
-I didn't want C&C pckg but am getting it via an orphaned order that had it. To me, this is the one option not worth much to me. But some people really want heated steering wheel and the auto-shades on the back doors. Good for kids, I guess, but I don't have young ones any longer. Heated wipers? Ha ha...sure.
-You said you were going to "adventure." In that case, I would opt for the power as those plugs will come in mighty handy if you ever camp, cook, tailgate, etc.
-I will never tow, ever. But you have to get tow package to even get the receiver that allows bike racks.

Good luck.

No, C&C does not give you massaging seats. That's part of the interior seating you choose. But yeah, the acoustic double paned glass is a bonus.

Comfort & Convenience Package includes:

  • Acoustic Laminated Privacy Glass
  • Power Rear Side Window Sunshades
  • Active Cabin Filtration
  • Auto-Cinching Doors (Soft-Close Doors)
  • Heated Steering Wheel
  • Heated Wipers
  • Heated 2nd Row Seats

My $0.02: if your car is ever parked outside in the cold, a heated steering wheel is very, very nice.
I always thought of massaging seats as a frivolous expenditure. It turns out they really reduce driver fatigue on long road trips.

Yeah and if you’re in a climate where it snows the heated wipers can de-ice your windshield in 30 seconds, I’ve used it many times. And the soft close doors are nice if you want to not wake up a napping kid.

1) surreal sound vs pro sound -only heard pro how is the sound with regular surreal?
This is very personal. We haven’t seen any non-SSP cars yet, so we can’t know, but I care a lot about audio and so I always opt for better audio. Others may not be able to hear the difference or care.

2) Do we need dynamic handling package? why?
Yes. Rear wheel steering. It changes the vehicle completely, imho. The 3-chamber air suspension helps, and is a nice add on, but the RWS imho is required.

3)Getting Dream Drive Pro to be able to upgrade mainly and like more sensors.
Given how fantastic hands free DDP is in the Air now, I would… and having more sensors definitely is the way to get more features later, but that’s hardly a guarantee.

It depends on how much you care about the car driving for you on long and/or boring highway stretches.

4)Comfort and convenience pkg - don't really care about heated steering wheel and auto window shades - any other reason to get it?
The acoustic privacy glass makes the car completely and utterly silent. Whether that matters to you is a personal choice.

5)power package is just 3 AC outlets? never used them before - don't really tailgate
It’s nice to have the option, but far from a requirement. Useful to power a Starlink dish or mobile cooler/fridge, or a stove if you’re camping, or whatever.

6)Getting towing to take kids and stuff on adventures.
I figure if I’m buying an SUV, the extra $600 or whatever for the option to tow is not going to bankrupt me.

Not sure where you're getting the VIN part from. The IRS clarification that was released recently about the tax credit says:

"If a taxpayer acquires a vehicle by having a written binding contract in place and a payment made on or before September 30, 2025, then the taxpayer will be entitled to claim the credit when they place the vehicle in service (namely, when they take possession of the vehicle), even if the vehicle is placed in service after September 30, 2025. Taxpayers should receive a time of sale report from the dealer at the time they take possession or within three days of taking possession of the vehicle."

and

"For purposes of the expiring clean vehicle credits under sections 25E, 30D, and 45W, what does “acquired” mean?
For purposes of sections 25E, 30D, and 45W, a vehicle is “acquired” as of the date a written binding contract is entered into and a payment has been made. A payment includes a nominal downpayment or a vehicle trade-in."

Nowhere does it talk about needing a VIN.

I concur with all the above comments., but 2 caveats:
1- We have another EV with rear wheel steering, and it's so much more maneuverable than the Air even though it's like 1 foot longer (?).
Is it absolutely necessary? No.
Our minivan has no such thing and I have nor problem driving it.
2- Acoustic laminating glass does a nice job, but not absolutely necessary. The car is already a lot more quite than an ICE.

Will throw in my thoughts. Generally agree with others, so only comments are as follows:

Dynamic Handling - it’s the ONE option I absolutely recommend 1,000%. The rear wheel steering changes everything - not just U-turns. Lane changes, parking, etc. It’s just an incredibly dynamic (no pun intended) drive. Wouldn’t buy a Gravity without it.

C&C - upgrade glass is worth it for the vault like quiet. I also got it for the rear heated seats as my kids are spoiled and enjoy them.

Power Package - you can get an inverter for $30 on Amazon for the couple of times you MAY need an outlet. If you’re a tailgater or camper, it’s a must. Given overall price of car, $600 would be nice for the convenience, but I had to give it up to get car sooner.

A minor point - you can get about 150 watts maximum from an inverter plugged into a car's 15-amp fused "cigarette lighter" outlet. Gravity's three independent 120V outlets can supply 1800 watts each.

From my experience with EVs, I'd like to point out the importance of this feature:
Heated 2nd Row Seats
If you're driving in cold weather you can maintain comfort more easily with a combination of seat heating and less cabin heat. That will decrease the electrons spent keeping your passengers warm and instead use them for more range.

Unless your windows are down, in which case sets heaters will be on and rear climate set to 86…🤣 Sorry, just happened to me, so I couldn’t resist!
