Gonna go on a limb (for my first post), and say this isn't a coincidence, since I also wanted stealth, but took the platinum with the platinum wheels, since it was that or "wait and hope". Assume they just pushed this spec through the line, either because it is what they could make, or because it has more margin than the stealth with the upgrades....so why not?!?!
Not trying to upset people, or rub it in, (or be mocked as a "sucker") but I test drove on Saturday, they checked on Saturday and did not have the green with Tahoe available, put a spec in on Sunday night. On Monday I called my SA since I realized I made a mistake on my spec. While on the call, I asked him to see what they had in that might be close....Low and behold, same spec I wanted except Platinum and 21" wheels instead of stealth. Oh, and missing tow hitch (which I didn’t really care about). So I took it on the spot. No idea if it was an "orhan" or not, but reading this thread I don’t think so.
I put in for the lease on Tuesday, and was approved. Obviously, I want this delivered before the end of September for the rebate. Tuesday afternoon I get an email that it should be off the line and out for delivery in 3 or 4 days?!?! It has to go to california, then re-shipped to Vegas (which seems incredibly inefficient, but whatever).
As to why they don’t go to prior orders and give them first dibs on available designs....Well, of course they SHOULD. But they probably figure those prior orders are "established sales", and people putting in orders right now, might not if they don’t get the rebate, so it might create an additional sale. And whether it REALLY creates one or not, it will at least create sales on paper, which will help with the markets analysis of the viability of Lucid etc...
Anyway, looking forward to the car. I would have also preferred the Stealth, and I had not thought about wrapping it if I didn’t like it, but I love the idea as an option. Oh, and the entire concept of taking something fast since I want the rebate is so funny, since I then take the upgraded platinum package and wheels which I would not have bought, so there goes a portion of the "rebate" anyway ;-)
