Gravity Dream Edition in Miami

Damn. Even in the early days (2014), Tesla had their trade-in program. How did people take advantage of the tax credit then?

If you mean the federal EV tax credit, it did not affect it. I traded an Audi R8 on our first Tesla and got the full tax credit.

If you mean the state sales tax credit (for those states that have it), it requires a trade-in to get that credit.

Yeah, I was referring to the local sales tax credit. My trade-in saved me at least $4,500 here in Florida. I’m just amazed that Lucid didn’t have such a program until recently.

We were going to trade our Tesla against a Gravity but lucked out. A tennis league acquaintance who knew the car and how we maintain it wanted it enough to pay the trade-in quote from KBB plus the sales tax credit we lost out on by a private sale. The money was a wash, but we were saved the trouble of the trade appraisal and paperwork, plus we were assured of getting the car off our hands before the 4-year phase of the warranty expired.

I traded in my Cybertruck, so at least they are taking Tesla for sure.
Good to know. I hate having to sell cars on my own (the hassle, time, etc), so I usually trade mine in (it's worth the haircut you take on the value, IMHO, to not have to waste time selling one privately).
